"Please switch off that alarm."
I traced my hands through the sheets. My husband was not there. I called him. He didn't pick up. Lately, we have been having a lot of trouble understanding each other. He spends a lot of time at his office. I am over here.
"Why don't you pick my call?" I typed and erased it. The sentence sounds rude. I gave up after trying to sound easy.
"Are you angry?" I typed the message. I waited for a while before hitting send. I was anxious. He didn't text me or call me. My phone rang after 5 hours. I rushed down to pick it up.
1 missed call.
I was afraid to see my phone. It was my mother.
"Hello"
"Hello, Mom"
"What are you doing?"
"I am just watching TV"
"Are you sick?"
"No"
"Your voice is so dull"
"Nothing. I am tired."
"Why don't you come over?"
"Soon. I have a lot of work here"
"Oh okay."
"I will call you later"
Should I tell her about my issues? Mt husband and I have a deal. We clear our own problems. We don't discuss it with other people. This time, he is not ready to discuss with me. I see him move away from a spot when there is a situation. He came home in the evening.
"You didn't call me"
"Ah. I misplaced my phone. It is in my head office. I will get it tomorrow only"
"Oh, okay." I trust him but he never misplaced anything ever.
"I had a very tiring day. I will go sleep."
"Sure"
The tasteless words. My whole world turned upside down. Is he waiting for any moves from my side ? Is he waiting for his opinion? Are we still mad at each other? Why does this prolong? Should I make the move? Are we supposed to randomly talk with each other one day? Does he need space? Is he alright ?
My mind is spiraling. I didn't want to give him a hard time. I forgot the issue. Maybe I am the issue. Should I ask him?
"Hey. Why are you not talking to me ?"
"We are fighting always if I open my mouth."
"I am sorry."
"Sorry doesn't cut it anymore"
"Why?"
"You know why"
"I am just afraid. We might fall apart if this continues"
"We already fell apart. I can't seem to love you"
"Why do you say that?"
"You see, you are creating problems out of thin air. I don't like it. I like a simple life. You are always talking to me about a lot of things. Complaints, Blabbers, Fights, Problems and so many negative things. You are alone at home, I get it. I have a job. If you keep nagging like this, I will not have one. Either one of us will leave the other soon. We will keep our peace until that"
Enough words spoken to break my heart into pieces. There were no convincing or explanations , no more contradictory statements. Love and sorrow roots in the heart.
