"Hey. I am home"
"Come here."
"What happened?"
"I made a mess"
"Wait, I am coming. Where are you?"
"I am in the kitchen."
"Be right there"
As I entered the kitchen, the love of my life was sitting on the floor with a lot of flour. Over her head, up in the nose, on her hair, and some on her hands. I smiled at her. She smiled at me. I am unsure about the next incident. She started crying out of the blue. I was shocked.
"Oh my god, Why are you crying? It is fine."
"I had a really bad day. I wanted to make some muffins. The first batch was burnt. The second batch was very pungent. It broke apart. This is my third batch. I opened the flour packet. A new one. It just tore in a very wrong direction and everything was on the floor. I didn't want to bake muffins for two hours. I planned on being naturally good at this."
"Aww. My poor baby. Come here. Shall we bake it together now? Do you want a muffin? We can also go and get one outside."
"It would just be another rub on my face. An evidence that I can't cook to save my life."
"That is not right. You make delicious meals for me every day. Today was not our day. Let us make great muffins soon. Now, you can get up and go to your room. I will clean this place. I promise. We will have an amazing day."
"Are you sure? I can help you."
"You baked two batches of muffins. I think that is enough creativity today. You can go rest for a while."
She wiped her nose and went inside the room. I cleaned up the space. Cleared the trash can and went outside for a while. I went for a walk. I bought a muffin and some popcorn to finish the day with a movie. As I entered the house, I saw her holding a new pan with baked muffins again. I was staring at her. It could either be a disaster that leads to another breakdown or a successful batch that gets me my kisses and muffins. I approached her with curiosity. She just stood there.
"What happened?"
"I can't lose this. It is a challenge for me."
"Did you win it?"
"I did"
She showed me her pan full of fully-baked muffins. It looked so aesthetically pleasing and made my mouth water. I was in awe of her perseverance. She was standing there. I was so proud of her. She then gave me my muffin, and we both tasted it together. It was delicious. We both loved it.
"Oh my god, this is so good. How did you make it?"
"I asked for help."
"What do you mean?"
"I figured out everything when I started the third batch. I didn't know the one part where it fell apart. I called my baker friend and asked her for a few tips. Now it is amazing."
"That is so good. I am so happy today. You are truly a genius."
"Yes, I am"
"I bought us muffins and popcorn. Now I got to say, This tastes delicious."
"Aww. Come let us watch a movie."
As she got up, there was an open flour packet on the counter that hit her head slipped right in front of us, and spilled on the ground. We both looked at each other. There goes our movie night. The days like this can show a lot of ups and downs. At the end of the day, it accepts every chaos. Love sometimes is chaotic.
