Love in simple things

Love is bold

I watched my daughter walk out of my house. Am I a terrible father? I am not sure. She loved my close friend's son. I didn't like the relationship because I didn't like that person. My close friend is a very good person. However, I don't know if his son deserves my daughter. She grew up with him. Somewhere along the decade, he went off the grid. Nobody knew his history. He came back a few years ago. We all invited him to our families. We believed in his potential. He then proposed to my daughter. I didn't know that they were in a relationship. My daughter knew that I wouldn't accept their love.

My wife saw her beloved daughter walk out of our house to marry a man who was not approved by anyone. She was crying her heart out. I went to meet my daughter.

"Papa"

"I am here to have a conversation, Sunny"

"Sure, papa"

"How are you?"

"We are comfortable. Jim went to see his colleague."

"What colleague?"

"His ex-colleague"

"He is searching for a job"

"Yes, papa. He got an opportunity"

"I wanted to see you. Your mom didn't come"

"Let her take time and settle"

"Sure, sunny. Uhm.."

"Yes, papa?"

"Is he taking care of you?"

"He is taking very good care of me. I love this house. Do you want to see the space? This is a temporary house for us. He promised me that we would move to a big house soon."

"Why didn't you tell me that you loved him?"

"I am sorry, papa. I know you wouldn't approve of him. I didn't have any other choice."

"You could have at least given me a heads up before marrying him"

"I know. This is a sudden shock for everyone. I didn't mean to hurt you. I just wanted to safeguard us."

"Well, we don't understand this. You are a child. At least he should have known better."

"Don't jump to conclusions, papa. He asked me to inform him about the relationship, about the marriage. He even wanted to ask your permission for everything."

"Why didn't you do it?"

"As I said, I was afraid you wouldn't approve of him."

"Yes, yes."

"Well, it has been so many years since we have heard of him. He just returned from nowhere a few years back. You fell in love with him. What did you even see in him?"

"He loved me. He cherished my presence. He has the potential. He was off the grid for a while because he had bad acquaintances. Now he is alright."

"Don't get me started with this route. Are you here to fix him?"

"There is nothing to be fixed. He is alright. You all don't know about him. He chose to open up about his life to me. I accept him for who he is. I think we are good as a couple."

"Did you consider us?"

"I am aware that he would take care of us all if given a chance. He is a very kind, generous person who would do anything for an affectionate family. Someday you would understand. For now, I understand him"

"You are a good spokesperson. I am still not convinced. I will visit you again with your mother if she is alright."

"We will be happy"

He walked in on us having a conversation. He greeted me with a smile and asked Sunny if she could give us some time alone. Sunny went to the balcony.

"I am sorry. I am extremely sorry to do this. I was waiting for you, uncle. I wanted to apologize wholeheartedly. Give me some time to lay down a clear path for our life. You will understand. I don't want to give fake promises. I want to show my actions. We will move into a good house soon. I spoke with an ex-colleague today.

I stopped him

"Let me think about it."

I walked out of the place. I needn't speak to him. Sunny's words spoke to me. She was strong. He gave her that courage. Their love was bold.
