Love in simple things

Love is radiant

"Master, I have been here for a few weeks now. I noticed something. I want some answers."

"Can it wait?"

"Sure"

This is the first time I am having a personal conversation with a saint. I have never been in the same vicinity as a saint before. He is my master. I am here to learn about the lives of the saints. I came here to interview but stayed here because I am finding out about myself here. I am learning a lot. I am growing as a person. There is so much to learn in this world within myself. My master taught me that. Yes, I do call him as my master. Everyone calls him a master. It is the highest honor and respect for him. He doesn't ask for it. He deserves it. I was talking about a cook working in the temple kitchen.

I waited patiently. He came to me after his service and prayer. He bowed down to me and requested me to sit on the floor. I sat along with him. In his silence and peace, I forgot what I wanted to ask. Yes, it was about the cook.

"I am here to talk about Ms.Chi."

"My honorable Ms.Chi"

"She is very polite, calm, peaceful"

"Yes"

"She prepares me the divine food every day. Not just me, for everyone"

"She has been the head cook here for more than two decades"

"With so much pressure to feed nearly 100 people for every meal, I would have lost my mind. She is still standing over there, smiling at everyone. She comes out and serves only you and goes back into her kitchen."

"Continue"

"I am pausing because I am analyzing as we speak. You taught me this day before yesterday. So far, I have had so many meaningful conversations"

"A good progress. Keep going"

"She is the mystery in this temple. I am curious about her state."

"Why do you want to know about her state?"

"I want to know how she handles the pressure. I can't imagine feeding a lot of people and being calm about it. I have worked in the kitchen area for the past two weeks. She is the calmest person I have ever seen."

"A very large world. Too many experiences.'

"My life had very little experience."

"Ms.Chi is my most beloved cook. I can eat her food and stay healthy for another century. She has a secret. You have seen her in her calm phase. I have seen all her state. She has been very anxious, depressed, and lonely. She came here. She taught prayer to young children and brought light into their lives. It transformed her."

"Is it?"

"Yes, she has been experiencing this calm life for over a decade now. I am so happy to see her content"

"I wonder what makes her feel content"

"Of course, she has a secret"

"What kind of secret?"

"It wouldn't be a secret anymore if I shared it with you. You have to see her. You have to observe her. You have been working here for more than a few weeks. I hope you will understand if you focus on your search for the answer to your questions. Visit her. She is preparing our lunch"

"Sure, Master"

As soon as I entered the kitchen. She was praying. She overlooked everyone working in the kitchen. Everyone smiled at her. Everyone shared a wish and a blessing with her. Some people came near her and greeted her. Some cooks helped her taste the food. The aroma spread across the kitchen. There was nobody who was not content in that area. I felt like a little kid in that room. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I got the answers. I went near her. She greeted me with a smile and gave me a little piece of apple.

"How are you, Ms.Chi? I want to ask you something."

"I am good, child. What question, my dear?" She touched me gently.

"Why are you happy?"

She smiled at me "I am in my happy place"

She made that work as her happy place. She is in her happy space. She is content because it did not work for her. She served food with a lot of love and that love nourished us. I was happy that I got the answer. She was glowing as she cleared my doubts. Love is radiant.
