"No, Park. You can't take it home. Your mom won't allow it. I know", Sam became restless.

"Why does it bother you?"

"I am not bothered. I am just concerned. Do you remember your last birthday?"

"Yes, yes.  Yes, I remember it well but this is not the same" Park became sad thinking about it.

"Now tell me what is smart about this?
"Last time, it was different. I didn't know how to care. Now I know. I have seen YouTube videos" Park reassured Sam in a very assertive way.

"Oh, Youtube videos? Are you insane? My dad told me there is nothing realistic about YouTube anymore" He became frustrated.

"Calm down, Sammy. I know what I am doing. I just have to take it silently to my home and care for it"

Sam was already running his way home, "Don't ever tell your mom I was involved"

"Sam, where are you going? Sam" Park sighed and reached home after a while.

"Who is responsible for this? I just cleaned the space. Park. Is that you? You walked into your room with your dirty shoes now, didn't you? Answer me, Park" His mom was searching for him all around the house. He was nowhere to be found.

"Park, If you come out now, I will be very calm and nice. If you are playing, then I am going to bring down your curfew time. I swear.." He appeared before his mom. "Where did you go?"

"I was playing outside" A small squeak came from his room. His mom was shocked to see a small puppy come out of his room.

"Parker, Did you bring a puppy again?" His mom was concerned. The last time when he bought a cat, it died within a month and he was devastated. Park didn't eat anything since he thought he was very irresponsible. This time he convinced himself that he was ready but he knew his mother wouldn't allow it. "Please answer me, Park. Don't stand there"

"Yes, mom. I brought him home. I promise I will take care of him this time Mom. Please, mom. I was scared to tell you so I kept it inside my room. I went out to get a rope and it wandered around. Sammy helped me bring it home" Park threw all possible answers around leaving his mom stunned.

"Okay, now tell me. Do you remember when Kitty died? You were so devastated and sad. I can't let you go through it again. Please return this to the shelter. When you finish high school I will let you get one."

"Please, Mom. I promise"

"No, Park. This will be my decision. I can't let you do this"

"Mom I swear I will take care of it"

"I am sorry, Park. Next time"

"It was on a sidewalk, Mom. I can't let it go outside now. It is raining. I don't want to abandon him."

The puppy was standing near his leg and licking his feet. He was looking at his mom trying to make a decision.

"When the rain stops, please take him to a shelter. I will let you have a dog when you are 2 years older. That will be my final decision"

When the thunder rumbled outside, Parker quickly hugged the puppy closer to him and covered his ears. "Please, Mom"

"Okay, you can have him. Please take good care of him."

That gentle hug was evidence enough for his mom.
