Sophie climbed into her car. Keefe took the passenger seat. They were riding home from dinner with their friends. She waved to Dex, who was getting in the car with Biana, beside her.

She started the engine and pulled out of the parking lot. She turned up the radio to find Stand By You playing. She smiled when Keefe started singing along. She decided to join in.

Soon, the song switched. The two of them continued their concert, however.

Nearly halfway back to her house, Sophie's heart caught in her throat. She wasn't sure exactly what she was supposed to do. She'd never had a seizure while driving before.

Her vision quickly tunneling off wasn't helping the situation. What was she supposed to do? She felt herself starting to hyperventilate.

"Sophie!"

She had no clue how many times Keefe had repeated her name before she finally realized.

"What's wrong?"

She wasn't able to answer. Her tongue was tingling too much. He ended up taking the wheel and yanked it to the side of the road. He instructed her to press the brakes.

She tried, but it wasn't fast enough. They were riding in the ditch, coming close to a four-way stop. Before her sight cut off completely, she saw Keefe grabbing the emergency brake and a horrid screech of rubber on asphalt. She was just going to have to trust him to make sure they didn't end up in a car wreck.

Sophie blinked. Flashing lights bored into her brain. She grimaced.

What was happening? Did they stop in time?

After collecting herself enough, she lifted her head and squinted in the bright lights. Her door was open, and a police officer was standing in front of it.

The cop's gaze shifted to her. She was most definitely about to get a ticket.

"Are you alright, ma'am?" She managed to nod. "Good. Your boyfriend said that you probably had a seizure. Is that what happened?"

"Yes, sir," she rasped.

"May I see your license?"

Sophie searched the console for her wallet. She couldn't find it. Keefe reached down and grabbed in off the floorboard. It must've fallen with all of the chaos. She took it from him and handed it to the police officer.

The officer took it and inspected it before handing it back. "If your passenger has a license, I'd suggest he drive back home. Be safe." He tipped his hat and made his way back to the cop car.

Sophie started to get out of the car, but she stumbled. She leaned against the car door to steady herself.

Keefe hurried around to walk her to the passenger side. She clung to him as they fumbled across the grass. She sat down in the passenger seat and buckled up.

"Thank you," she murmured to him.

"Of course." He kissed her head before getting into the driver's side.
