(FYI, for the college chapters, it's just gonna skip around from here. The timeline is still moving forward, but it's just random at this point, not like the other grades.)
Sophie groaned. She was currently sitting at the library with Keefe, trying to work on her paper for history class. It was over World War Two.
Keefe laughed. "That must suck."
"Shut up!" She snapped. "You haven't even started on yours. You realize it's due tomorrow, right?"
"I've got a twelve pack of redbull in the mini-fridge back at my dorm," he shrugged off. "It'll be fine."
"I'm sorry, I can't just chug an energy drink and then finish a twelve page essay at three in the morning." She rolled her eyes. "Seriously, I'm no stranger to all nighters. But that just ridiculous!"
"It's a special skill," he bragged.
"Special is right," she grumbled under her breath.
"Hey!"
She snickered.
The next day, low and behold, Keefe had finished his paper at four am. Sophie had no clue how he ever managed it. Especially because he usually got As.
"Ok, that's not even fair," she informed him.
He shrugged. "Skill issue."
Sophie sat back in her seat, waiting for her turn to present. Dozens of boring papers later, she was called to the front.
She got her papers in order and started from the top. Part way through her vision started going hazy. Crap.
Just. peachy.
None of her professors knew about her seizures.
She rasped out what was about to happen. The papers slid from her hand and scattered across the floor. As her vision tunneled out and tilted, she saw Keefe sprinting down from his seat.
She attempted to catch herself. But it was too late. She was out before hitting the ground.
Sophie grumbled something as she awoke. She squinted her eyes shut as quickly as she opened them. The fluorescent lights gave her an even bigger headache than she already had. She was pretty certain she bonked her head on the way down.
She could feel the shadow of someone hovering over her. Then two someones. She forced herself to open her eyes. She found her professor standing over her. Keefe knelt down beside her. He brushed a little hair away from her face.
"You alright, Foster?" He whispered.
No. She wasn't. She shook her head and held out her arms. He wrapped his arms around her. Even though he was careful while sitting her up, it still sent a blood rush to her head. It gave her a migraine.
Keefe gently prodded the side of her forehead. "Yeesh. That's a pretty good goose egg you've got there."
She buried her face in his chest.
The professor turned to Keefe. "Mr. Sencen. Do you mind taking her down to the nurses' station?"
"Not at all, sir."
Keefe helped her to her feet, and they started down the hall.
