“Gosh, I've been receiving so many calls, a lot of companies really want to join hands with ours, unfortunately for them, our hands are full.” Bill said, walking towards the desk, inviting himself to sit on it.

Drix's phone lay on his hand and he couldn't help but stare at his contacts.

He'd wanted to delete her contact from his phone (knew he should have), but he just couldn't find himself doing it.

He knew he was certainly never going to give her a call, but the determination in her to be friends with him got to him.

He knew too well she had more in mind, and he knew getting any step closer to her was like getting closer to fire knowing fully well any step closer could burn you.

He wasn't going to get burned so he knew best to avoid her.

He saw what she'd saved herself. ‘'Most Beautiful'.

He couldn't help but wonder how she did that in those few seconds she had his phone in her hands.

“What's so funny?” Bill's question snapped him out of his thoughts.

He realized he had just let out a chortle. That was strange.

“You don't laugh, what could could be on your phone that'd make you smile?” Bill squinted his eyes as though trying to read through his mind.

He awkwardly cleared his throat. “Nothing.” He tried sounding as work-like as he could, but he knew Bill wasn't in for that.

Bill snatched his phone from his grip, rising from the desk. Why were people taking his phone from him?

He rose to his feet, stretching to grab his phone back which was a vain effort as Bill was no longer within arms reach.

Bill was already headed for the door.

“Give me my phone this instant.” He ordered in a stern tone, knowing it wasn't going to get to Bill, but still willing to try.

“Most Beautiful?” Bill asked teasingly, a laugh leaving him. “Who the heck is that?”

“Bill!” He pulled his brows together in a frown, trying his best to reach him but Bill, as fast as he was, slipped  from his hand.

“Who is this girl?” He still had the teasing tone, though it was mixed with bemusement. “As far as I know, the only female contacts you have are either work people or your mom and I know you didn't save either one as ‘most beautiful'”

“Just give me my phone.” He demanded, still to no use.

“Well, I guess one way to find out.” He winked, smiling teasingly.

Realization dawned on him, as he deepened the frown. “Don't you dare give her a call.”

Too late, the phone was already ringing. Bill stopped walking when she answered. “Hello? Who is this?” She sounded tired.

He glared at Bill before snatching his phone. Now he had to talk to her.

“Hey Reil, it's Drix.”

“Drix?” She said it like she hadn't expected him to call. “Well hello there handsome.” She was back to the tone that was obviously meant to entice him.

Bill threw him a confuzzled expression, then mouthed ‘who is she?’

He didn't bother replying.

“And what may I have done to be graced by your presence?” He couldn't help but notice how her voice made him feel warm inside.

Maybe it wasn't bad having a female friend. It didn't have to mean he wanted to date her.

He shrugged though she couldn't see him. “I guess I just felt like giving you a call.” He ensured his tone remained as insouciant as ever. “Let's say I was bored.”

He walked back to his desk, sitting on his chair. Ignoring the fact the call was on speaker and Bill was walking behind him, listening to it all.

“That's why it's nice to have a friend to talk to—”

“I never said we were friends.” He cut her off coldly, when he saw Bill's expression. Like he was saying ‘what the heck is going on’.

“Your call speaks louder than words handsome.”

He could see her giving him that sly smile she always possessed. Wearing those high heels of hers. Having on those short and explosive dresses she always had on.

“But it is nice to get a call from you Drix, I'm pleased by it.” She still held the same tone. “Sadly, I'd have to put an end to the call, I have a lot to handle at the moment, but I'd call you tonight.”

“Please don't.” Though he had a feeling she would.

“Okay then handsome, bye.” Then she hung up.

For some reason, something about her intrigued him.

He knew nothing about her, yet he felt the need to know a lot about her.

Who was she? He only knew her name to be Reil, nothing else.

“So tell me, who was that?” He'd totally forgotten about Bill's presence.

He turned to the papers in front of him. “No one important, now let's get to work.”

“No way you're avoiding the conversation.” Bill reached for the papers, pulling them from the table.

“Bill!” He glared at him.

Bill just let out a shrug. “Since when did you allow a girl to call you handsome? You always hang up on anyone drifting from the topics of work.”

He pulled his brows together. “I don't like you taking my phone from me, don't do it again.”

Bill rolled his eyes. “Stop changing the fucking subject and tell me who she is.” Then the teasing smile. “I didn't know you had a girlfriend.” A wink following.

“Would you get to work or make me get you to work?” He ensured to make his tone stern so as to get Bill working.

“Whatever sir.” Bill didn't hide the sarcasm from his tone. “But know you're not getting out of the conversation in the future, I'm just letting you free for now.”

Happy the conversation was ending, he rolled his eyes. “Let’s just get to work.”

He knew what he felt for Reil was nothing close to like. She intrigued him too much to ignore.

Who was she? Where was she from? And why was she so determined to have him?

Those were things he was determined to find out about her.
