As I lounged in bed, Shan sat cross-legged on her own, school books scattered around her, when Joey's knock echoed through the room.

"Come in," my sister's voice rang out as I rested against the headboard. "What's up, Joe?"

"I'm heading to the shop, d'you two want anything?" Joey's asked as I shook my head.

"You are?" She smiled. "Is Aofie staying over?" Shan inquired, with a pencil tucked behind her ear.

"Yeah," he retorted, a hint of impatience in his tone. "Do you two fancy anything from the shop? It's closing soon."

"Why the late-night rush? What's the urgent need?" Shan inquired, prompting a giggle from me.

"You want the honest answer to that?" Joey chuckled, causing Shan to grimace playfully.

"No." She groaned. "Go away."

"Night Shan, Rory," he chuckled, closing the door behind him.

"Stay safe! I'm not ready to be an auntie yet," I hollered, earning a playful "shut up" from him.
