I'd been out cold for what seemed like forever. Something felt off; no bad dreams, no tossing and turning - the best sleep I'd had in years.
As I cracked open my eyes, I saw the dark-haired girl dozing in my embrace, legs intertwined, her chest gently rising and falling.
On the opposite couch, Edel held a cup, sharing a laugh with Johnny beside her, lost in their own little world.
"Morning, lazy arse," Johnny quips, spotting me awake.
"What time is it?" I inquire as he glances at his watch.
"Nearly twelve," he chuckles, to which I groan.
"God, who let me drink that much," I mutter softly, careful not to disturb Aurora.
"We all tried to stop you, lad, but it never works," he laughs, as I groan, sensing a massive headache creeping in.
"Morning, Princess," I smile as she stretches, meeting my gaze with those stunning blue eyes.
"What time is it?" She mumbles before Johnny responds.
"Just gone twelve," he says, causing Aurora to freeze.
"Ah, shit...shit!" She exclaims, jumping up from the sofa as I sit upright.
"What's the matter?" I ask as she struggles to put on her shoes.
"I'm late for work."
"Can't you phone in sick?" I question as she shakes her head, muttering a string of curses under her breath.
"No, no... I'll bring back your PJs later, Mrs. Kavanagh. I'm so sorry," she apologizes, rushing out the side door.
Johnny shoots me a 'what's the fuck' look, and I just shrug, puzzled.
"Do you think she's okay?" I inquire as Edel sighs.
"Probably, she might just... hate being late," she offers, trying to reassure me as she heads into the kitchen.
"I'm sure she's fine, mate," Johnny chimes in, attempting to ease my worries.
