Me and Katie were sprawled out on her bed, face masks plastered on, watching Grease for what had to be the hundredth time. The sound of "You're the One That I Want" blasted from the TV as we sang along, giggling at how ridiculous we must've looked.

"You're the one that I wa-a-a-nt, oo-oo-oo!" we both belted out, horribly out of tune, not caring in the least.

Just as I hit the high note, my phone pinged, the sound cutting through the music. I sighed and reached for it, half-expecting it to be some stupid message. But as soon as I glanced at the screen, my heart stopped.

'Yeah so something strange thing happened today..'

'That's nice Johnny.'
'What happened?'

'I took yours brothers and
they're at my house.'

'You can keep them, no returns.'
'Really?'

'No. Why'd you take my
brothers?'
'I don't know.'

'Do you plan on bringing
them back?'

'I guess.'
'Tried to get Joey
but he's working.'

'I'm on my way.'

"Who was it?" Katie asked, sipping her Pepsi, her eyes still glued to the TV.

"Johnny," I replied, tossing my phone onto the bed and letting my head fall back against the pillows in exasperation.

She sat up immediately, curiosity piqued. "What's he wanting?" Her brows furrowed, knowing well enough that if Johnny was involved, it was never something simple.

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Long story. A really long story." I glanced at the clock, my mind racing. "Sorry, Katie, I really have to go. I can't even explain it."

"You don't have to," she said, waving me off with a smile. "D'you want me to call Hughie to take you?"

"Nah, it's fine. Aiden was gonna take me home after, but... looks like we'll have to make a detour first." I chuckled as I grabbed my jacket, quickly texting Aiden to let him know. My fingers flew over the screen, trying to keep my nerves in check.

Katie slid off the bed and stretched, her face mask still half on. "Next week then? I'm free on Saturday—we can have a sleepover and actually finish Grease without any Johnny/Gibsie drama?"

"Obviously," I grinned, walking toward the door just as Aiden's car horn beeped outside. "We've got to see Danny and Sandy ride off into the sunset—again."

Katie pulled me into a tight hug, the kind that always made me feel a bit lighter. "I'll see you at school. Good luck surviving whatever mess they're in."
