"You sure you're not gonna kill me?" I asked, my voice dripping with mock concern as Aurora laughed beside me

"You sure you're not gonna kill me?" I asked, my voice dripping with mock concern as Aurora laughed beside me.

"No, you silly fuck," she said, shaking her head, her smile lighting up her face.

"But what if you suffocate me in my sleep with a pillow?" I sighed dramatically, throwing an exaggerated look of fear her way.

"I won't, promise," she grinned, laying her head gently on my shoulder as I flung the blanket over both of us, cocooning her in warmth. The faint smell of her shampoo, familiar and comforting, filled the air.

"I've missed you," I said quietly, glancing down at her as she tilted her head up to meet my eyes.

"You saw me what—two days ago?" she giggled, her voice soft and teasing, though her eyes were already starting to droop with sleep.

"Not the point." I kissed her forehead, and she rolled her eyes at the gesture, though the smile on her lips stayed.

"Plus, you see me every day at school," she reminded me, her tone light as she snuggled closer.

"Yeah, but we need to see each other more often," I insisted, not ready to let the moment slip into silence just yet.

She let out a small laugh, shaking her head again. "We can't be with each other 24/7, Joker," she said, using her nickname for me. Her voice had that tired-but-happy quality, the kind that only comes when you're with someone who makes you feel at ease.

"Should be allowed, in my opinion," I shot back with a playful smirk, pulling her just a little tighter under the blanket.

"You're insufferable," she groaned, but there was no real bite to it. Instead, she smiled up at me, her eyes sparkling even as they threatened to close.

"Yep. And you're stuck with me," I teased, nudging her cheek with my nose, which earned me a quiet laugh from her.

"Unfortunately," she said, though her arm looped tighter around my waist, her fingers tracing lazy patterns against my side.

For a few moments, we sat there in comfortable silence, the low hum of the TV playing in the background, the warmth between us a stark contrast to the cool air outside. It was peaceful, and for a fleeting second, everything felt right.

"You tired?" I asked softly, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face.

She nodded, her eyes closing. "Mmhm," she murmured. "But I don't wanna sleep yet."

I chuckled, brushing my hand along her arm. "You're about to pass out on me."

"Maybe," she whispered, a sleepy smile tugging at her lips. "But don't leave, okay?"

"Never," I whispered back, resting my chin atop her head, feeling her breathing slow as she drifted off.
