The door creaked open again,
and this time,
an omega maid cautiously entered the room,
her eyes wide as she took in the scene.
Yoongi shot her a sharp look,
silently warning her to be careful with her approach.

After directing the maid on what to do and eventually peeling himself off the clingy omega, Yoongi found himself in his study, staring out into the seemingly void night. The darkness outside mirrored the turmoil inside him, a chaotic storm of emotions that he struggled to keep in check.

He had changed into fresh clothes after taking a long, cold shower, trying to wash away the lingering heat and the omega's intoxicating scent that had clung to him so fiercely. But despite his efforts, Hoseok's sweet fragrance still lingered faintly in the air, a reminder of the omega’s tempting presence, of the bond they shared—a bond Yoongi was fighting so hard to keep under control.

Yoongi ran a hand through his damp hair, his eyes fixed on the night sky. The cold air seeping through the window helped clear his head, but the ache in his chest remained. His thoughts kept drifting back to Hoseok.

He knew he had made the right decision by stepping away, giving Hoseok the space he needed to get through this part of his heat. But the alpha in him screamed that he should be there, marking him, claiming him, making sure he was safe. It took every ounce of willpower to stay where he was and not rush back to the omega's side.

Yoongi let out a long sigh, leaning his forehead against the cool glass of the window. His breath fogged up the pane as he closed his eyes, trying to centre himself. He had always prided himself on his self-control, his ability to stay calm and collected even in the most intense situations. But Hoseok… Hoseok had a way of breaking down his walls, of making him feel things he hadn’t felt in years.

"Why does it have to be so hard?" Yoongi muttered to himself, his voice barely audible in the quiet room. He knew the answer, of course. It was hard because he cared—because, somewhere along the way, Hoseok had become more than just an omega he was supposed to protect. Hoseok had become someone he couldn’t bear to lose.

The thought was terrifying, and yet, it was the only thing that made sense in the midst of all this chaos. Yoongi knew he couldn’t afford to let his feelings cloud his judgment, not when Hoseok’s safety was on the line. But he also knew that denying those feelings wouldn’t make them go away.

He took a deep breath, pushing himself off the window and turning away from the night outside. He had to be strong, for Hoseok's sake. If he gave in now, everything would fall apart. Hoseok needed him to be in control, to be the alpha he deserved.

His thought got cut off with the buzz of his phone... it was Namjoon.

"What?"

"Coast is clear, we can start now."

Yoongi raised a brow, seeming unsure. "How sure are you?"

"If not ninety, then it's eighty." Namjoon affirmed from the other end. "They are coming together tomorrow evening for a conference, and you for sure cannot miss this... it's just a start you know..." he trailed off.

"Hope you know we aren't only risking our lives, but Hoseok's also."

"Hoseok? Right... I forgot." Namjoon let out an heavy sign from the other end. "He doesn't have to be there tho, it's just a conference for now, nothing serious."

"He begged me to be a part of it Joon. It wouldn't be fair if I leave him out of it. Besides he has to be by my side when the real mission begins. I can't risk them having a hold of him."

"That's what I'm saying, the real mission hasn't started yet, he doesn't have to be there." Namjoon pointed out. "Besides he's in his heat right now. It isn't the best decision for him to partake in anything as of now.

Yoongi's brow furrowed, "how did you know that!!"

"News spread quickly gi, you both are on the top news. You should know that was bound to happen when you brought out your fake marriage to the public." Namjoon snickered.

Yoongi's grip on the phone tightened as Namjoon's words sunk in. The public nature of their fake marriage had complicated things more than he anticipated. He had always known it would draw attention, but the way news spread within their world was both unnerving and frustrating. Hoseok’s heat only added to the danger—an element he couldn’t afford to ignore.

“Joon, this mission… it's not just about us anymore. If something goes wrong, if they figure out what we’re up to… Hoseok becomes a target,” Yoongi said, his voice laced with worry.

“I know, Yoongi, but that’s why we have to be smart about this. Hoseok’s in a vulnerable state right now; he doesn’t need to be anywhere near this. We can handle the conference, set things in motion without drawing attention to him,” Namjoon replied, his tone calm and reassuring.

Yoongi paced the room, his mind racing. He knew Namjoon was right, but the thought of leaving Hoseok out, of not having him close by, gnawed at him. Hoseok had begged to be involved, to stand by Yoongi’s side in this mission. And while Yoongi wanted to honour that, he couldn’t shake the feeling that keeping Hoseok safe had to be his top priority.

“Let’s get through the conference first,” Yoongi finally said, his voice firm. “We’ll see how things unfold. But I want Hoseok kept out of the spotlight for now. He’s in no condition to be dealing with any of this.”

“Understood. We’ll keep a low profile and assess the situation afterward. Just… make sure he stays safe, Yoongi. We can’t afford any slip-ups.”

“I will,” Yoongi promised, his voice carrying a weight of determination. “But I’ll need you to keep your ears open. If anything seems off, anything at all, I want to know immediately.”

“Of course. We’re in this together, Yoongi. I’ve got your back.”

With that, Yoongi ended the call, his thoughts still swirling with uncertainty. He had made his decision, but it didn’t ease the unease in his chest. This mission was only just beginning, and he had a feeling it was going to test every limit he had.
