CHAPTER 73: KAI

"I'd like to see you try."
Jungkook's not so nice voice came next,
earning a snickering laugh from Hoseok.

Stepping into the party was much harder than Hoseok could imagine, for all eyes were on them the moment they got in, camera flashes everywhere.

Hoseok had his eyes squinted, not at all familiar with the white flashes invading his sight. Yoongi's hand came up to his face, blocking the harsh lights from Hoseok's eyes. His touch was firm yet gentle, a silent promise of protection amidst the chaos of the crowd. Hoseok leaned into Yoongi's side, feeling the tension ease slightly as the alpha's presence shielded him from the overwhelming attention.

"You Okay?" Yoongi whispered softly, close to his ear.

"Wasn't expecting that much attention." Hoseok admitted, giving a slight nod to make the alpha know he was okay.

"Sorry to say, you'll have to get used to it, this won't be our last time having all eyes on us."

"And I thought you cared." Hoseok muttered under his breath, snickering, as the alpha led them towards a table that already had a couple occupying it.

"Hey Kai, it's been quite a while." Yoongi greeted. Gaining the attention of the slightly older man. Probably in his late twenties or early thirties. "Actually wasn't expecting you to be here."

"Yoongi! Wow! What a blessing to see you here." The older man got up, engulfing Yoongi in a warm hug.

Yoongi cringed, fighting to pull away from the older. "Get off me you asshole." Yoongi stated, his voice having a playful tone in it.

"My bad." Kai laughed, pulling away. "I forgot you're an affectionless idiot." He joked, his attention moving to the omega standing beside the younger alpha.

He let out a dramatic gasp, hands over his chest. "Are you the Hoseok everyone is talking about?"

Hoseok smiled at him, nodding his head. noting that the older alpha seemed too goofy to be a part of Yoongi's rivals. "You got it right." He said with so much confidence, despite the anxiety of meeting new people eating him up from the inside.

Yoongi couldn't help but smile proudly, giving a light squeeze to the omega's waist.

"How can such stone hearted dude pull such beauty?" Kai went on in awe.

Yoongi's smile turned firm, glaring at the older. "How about you give some attention to your wife?" He retorted, tilting his head to the beautiful omega taking a slow sip of her pineapple juice, enjoying watching her husband goof around. "Hey there Jennie." Yoongi greeted, waving at her. She responded with a smile, waving back at him.

"They're my high school friends." Yoongi answered Hoseok's unasked question. Slipping them both into the other side of the booth. "They're no threats." He went on, attempting to make the omega comfortable with the couple.

Hoseok couldn't do much but nod, already knowing they had no business with anything mafia related considering how friendly and trusting both alpha's were with each other.

A few minutes passed by And the main party began. Hoseok was conversating with his newly formed friend, jennie. She was the sweetest, way too sweet to even be a human. He found out she was pregnant after he had asked her why she was taking pineapple juice at such grand gathering.

Yoongi hadn't caught sight of Jay or his father since they got in which made him suspicious. He knew they were one of the grand host of this party, so there was no way they were going to be absent... except they were planning something.

Yoongi let out a soft sign, hoping whatever it was wouldn't cause any permanent damage. He hadn't failed to notice the attention both he and Hoseok were getting from suspicious looking men, all scattered around the hall, some pretending to be waiters, serving drinks, and majority of them hiding behind cameras, pretending to be photographers. It wouldn't have been that suspicious if they didn't have similar looking in ear monitors all behind their ears.

"Can I trust you?" Yoongi suddenly voiced, gaining Kai's attention.

Kai raised a brow, curious gaze scrutinising the younger.

"What?"

"First of, have you seen my father today?"

"Hungjae?" Kai's expression turned to a bitter frown, his tone mirroring his expression. It was obvious that Kai also despised him. Everyone who knew him hated him."Yeah, he came earlier, he's at the vip session."

Yoongi nodded slightly. "One more thing..." He paused, gripping on Hoseok's hand to gain his attention, before hitting lightly on his ear monitor. "How many minutes left?" He muttered into the monitor, earning some shuffles before Jimin's voice came into light.

"Ten." He answered, sharp and short.

Yoongi nodded again turning his attention back to Kai. "This place is going to blow up in less than ten minutes. I need you both to be out of here before that happens."

Kai signed, slumping slightly into his seat. "Mafia shit again?"

"Don't ask questions. And I'll add that, you need to be as quick as possible. Nobody here is to be trusted, not even the waiters. Check out what's behind their ears and that should explain it all."

And with that, Yoongi got up, his grip on Hoseok's hand going firmer. Hoseok needed not to be told twice to follow suit, already sensing the tension around them.

"We're going to Hungjae." Yoongi voiced out as they made their way through the almost deserted corridor "Don't worry, you wouldn't be facing him." He assured, sensing the omega go tense at the mention of his name. "It'll be quick, I just need to get some info."

"Yet." Hoseok corrected, his voice barely audible. "I won't be facing him yet." He rephrase, his tone holding a hint of determination in it. Yes he was still scared of the man, but promise was promise. He had promised himself and every other person that went through the same thing to kill the old monster.

They got to the vip section in no time, and just as Yoongi was about to open the door, Hoseok stopped him, pulling him back by his arm, seeming unsure.

"What if all these is another trap?" He voiced out his worries.

"Then we take all it means to get out of here alive." And with that, he opened the door, stepping into the specially designed large room, with Hoseok behind him.
