"For as long as the night is enshrouded in darkness, and the day is illuminated by light, it shall be my duty to stand and fight. First for the Family, then for the people. All till your very last breath, no matter the foe, no matter the cost. This is the obligation of a Royal guard."
The light in the room slowly dissipated, revealing Undyne, poised to do battle once more.
Her armor has mended itself. The deep cut left by the Human had miraculously vanished and it was replaced by a new insignia.
A heart. Not too dissimilar to what the Human was shown at the beginning of her journey.
"This is what we swear by when we are inaugurated," Undyne said with an air of pride in her voice.
"Every single soldier, every single officer, every single Captain that has come before."
"This is what we stand by," Undyne repeated.
Her left eye seems to ignite, her pupil replaced by a metaphorical fire bright enough to rival even the stars in the sky.
To the Human's shock, something she had never encountered before began to happen.
She didn't notice before, but the air around her had begun to move. It started slowly, similar to the wisps of wind on a hot summer day, almost unnoticeable. Then while Undyne's speech, it began picking up, wind swirling around strong enough to barely nudge both the Human's and Undyne's hair. Then it was like the pleasant winds of a windy Autumn evening. If you kept your eyes open for too long they'd dry up.
But now...
The wind is howling.
"Let me ask you... what do you fight for?" Undyne questioned.
"..."
"Very well," she said, unable to mask her disappointment.
"......"
She lifted her spear, angling it at the Human's chest.
"I'm done talking. Raise your blade. It's far too late to back out now."
A red knife materialized in the Human's hand while she took a deep breath in.
"Good. Now that you're ready..."
Undyne leaps forward, landing right in front of the Human, plunging her spear into the ground. Chunks of the dark abyss shatter, lifting up off of the ground for a moment before falling to the ground.
"Don't expect me to hold back!"
Without giving the Human even an instant to blink, Undyne drags her spear out of the ground, sweeping up chips of the darkness with it.
The Human shifted backward, her arm raised to protect her eyes from the shards. The smattering of mysterious material ends, allowing the Human to lower her arm.
On instinct, the Human jerked her head to the side, narrowly evading the jab at her skull.
The reflection of her face on the spear's surface reminded the Human to be less careless.
She shoved her dagger upwards, blocking Undyne's continuous attack before ducking and dropping down her dagger to let the spear swing over her head.
Undyne wastes no time in cutting downwards diagonally, swiveling her entire body to add more force, shattering the ground once again with the impact, but missing the Human as they rolled away just in time.
[Honorbound Duel]
The Human freezes in place, her dagger turns green without her input.
