┊❛ welcome to chapter fifty-seven❜┊˚ ͙۪۪̥◌

a/n : This chapter turned out to be quite long, so I've divided it into two parts. Andddd... I've finally written a Ron Weasley x OC fanfic. It's out now. :)

The tension at Hogwarts was suffocating, the weight of the impending third task pressing down on everyone. Severus watched from the castle windows, holding Alaric close. The baby was oblivious to the turmoil outside, content in his father's arms. Severus had always been a man of control, his emotions carefully guarded, but as he gazed at his son, a deep fear took root within him—a fear that something terrible was about to happen, something that even he could not protect them from.

As Rosabelle made her way to the grounds, a deep sense of unease settled in her chest. The usual lively chatter of the students was subdued, replaced by hushed whispers and anxious glances. The champions stood at the entrance of the maze, their faces set with determination, yet tinged with the same apprehension that gripped the crowd. Harry caught Rosabelle's eye, and she offered him a reassuring smile, though it did little to ease the tension in her own heart.

The task began, and Rosabelle's heart pounded in her chest. The maze swallowed the champions whole, its dark, twisting paths hiding them from view. Time seemed to stretch endlessly as the minutes ticked by, each one heavier than the last. The crowd waited with bated breath, their anticipation growing with each passing second.

Meanwhile, Harry was battling his way through the maze, fear gripping his heart. The Triwizard Cup was within reach, but something felt wrong. The maze was alive with danger, and every step seemed to lead him deeper into darkness.

As Harry turned a corner, he came face to face with Cedric. The two stared at each other for a moment, each realizing the gravity of the situation. But before they could speak, a sudden coldness filled the air. They had no time to react as Viktor Krum appeared, his eyes glazed over, clearly under the Imperius Curse. He attacked, and chaos ensued.

"Get down!"

Harry ducked and Viktor got zapped by Cedric. Cedric then ran up and kicked the wand out of Viktor's hand. He pointed his wand at Viktor's body as if to finish him off, but Harry ran up and intervened.

"No stop! He's bewitched, Cedric."

The maze seemed to close in around them as Harry and Cedric sprinted towards the Triwizard Cup. The undergrowth, twisted and dark, seemed to come alive with malicious intent, reaching out with thorny vines and gnarled branches.

As they neared the cup, a thick, entangling mass of plantlife shot up from the ground, wrapping around Cedric's legs and yanking him down. Cedric fell hard, his face contorted in shock and panic as the creeping vines tightened their grip.

"Harry! Harry!" Cedric's voice was strained and desperate, his eyes wide with fear.

Harry, heart pounding, skidded to a halt and turned. Without hesitation, he raised his wand and shouted, "Depulso!" The magical force lashed out, slicing through the encroaching plantlife. The vines recoiled and withered under the spell, giving Cedric a chance to wriggle free.

With a determined grimace, Harry ran to Cedric's side and helped him up. "You okay?"

Cedric nodded, breathing heavily. "You know, for a moment there I thought you were gonna let it get me."

Harry managed a grim smile. "For a moment, so did I."

Cedric gave a rough chuckle. "Some game, huh?"

Harry shook his head, catching his breath. "Some game."

The wind began to whip around them again, howling through the maze with a renewed ferocity.

Cedric, still catching his breath, looked at Harry with a mix of gratitude and determination. "Go. Take it, you saved me!"

Harry shook his head, his gaze steady. "Together. On three. One, two, three!"

With a shared nod of resolve, both boys lunged forward towards the cup, their hands reaching out in unison. The wind roared louder as they approached, but their focus was singular, and determined. They were so close—just a few steps away from grasping the cup and ending this nightmarish ordeal.

Without warning, the ground beneath their feet shifted, and they were no longer surrounded by the hedges of the maze but by cold, unyielding stone. They were in a graveyard, the darkness pressing in on them from all sides. The sudden change was disorienting, filling them with an icy dread.

Harry and Cedric had been ported to a graveyard.
