Rosabelle's nose twitched as a wave of strong, sweet perfume wafted toward her from the woman sitting a few seats away. She discreetly rubbed her nose with her finger, trying to stifle a sneeze, but the scent was overpowering. Noticing her discomfort, Severus quietly handed her his handkerchief. She glanced at him with gratitude, pressing the cloth to her nose to block out the overwhelming fragrance.

Meanwhile, Dumbledore's voice echoed through the Great Hall, announcing the new changes for the school year.

"We have two changes in staffing this year," Dumbledore began, his calm voice carrying over the murmurs of the students. "We are pleased to welcome back Professor Grubbly-Plank, who will be taking Care of Magical Creatures while Professor Hagrid is on temporary leave..."

Rosabelle glanced at the oversized, empty chair at the staff table, her heart sinking a little at the absence of Hagrid. Across the Gryffindor table, Harry exchanged a worried look with Hermione, who shrugged, equally concerned.

As Dumbledore continued, Rosabelle's attention drifted to Trelawney, who was struggling to spear pieces of kipper with her fork. The Divination professor squinted in confusion at the person dining beside her, clearly puzzled.

"...We also wish to welcome our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher—Professor Dolores Umbridge."

A collective gasp rippled through the hall as Dumbledore revealed the new teacher. Dressed in a pink Alice band and matching cardigan, Umbridge sat primly beside Trelawney, her expression smug and self-satisfied. Harry, like many others, was stunned, unable to believe that the woman who had caused him trouble in the Ministry was now at Hogwarts.

Rosabelle exchanged a look with Severus, who was frowning, though she knew him well enough to sense his disdain. She reached for his hand beneath the table, and Severus subtly grasped it, tucking their joined hands discreetly within the folds of his robe.

In the tense classroom atmosphere, Harry's voice rang out with defiance. "So according to you, Cedric Diggory dropped dead of his own accord?"

Umbridge, her tone dripping with false sweetness, replied, "Cedric Diggory's death was a tragic accident."

"It was murder," Harry shot back, his voice rising with righteous anger. "Voldemort killed him, and you know it!"

"Enough!" Umbridge's voice snapped, harsh and sudden, causing the entire class to flinch. A flicker of madness glinted in her eyes before it vanished, replaced by her usual sickly-sweet demeanor.

"Enough," she repeated more softly, though her tone was no less menacing. "Friday, Mr. Potter... My office."

The threat hung in the air as Harry's classmates exchanged worried glances.

Later, in the dungeons, Severus walked around the class, his dark eyes scanning the room with his usual intensity. However, his attention was diverted as Umbridge's syrupy voice echoed from the back, where she stood with her clipboard, observing like a hawk.

"...You applied first for the Defense Against the Dark Arts post, is that correct?" Umbridge asked, her tone deceptively pleasant.

"Yes," Severus answered curtly, his voice cold and clipped.

"But you were... unsuccessful?" she pressed, her smile barely masking the venom behind her words.

"Obviously," Severus retorted, the single word laced with contempt.

Ron and Harry exchanged a quick, amused look, only for Ron to receive a sharp cuff on the head from Severus, who had caught their exchange.

Undeterred, Umbridge continued, her voice taking on a more pointed tone. "Professor Snape, with your new... family commitments, one has to wonder where your true dedication lies. Will you be able to focus fully on your students, or will your time be divided between them and your... wife and child?"

Severus' eyes narrowed dangerously, his expression darkening. "Professor Umbridge," he began, his voice like ice, "I assure you, my dedication to my students and my duties as a professor remains uncompromised. However, if you're implying that my commitment to my family diminishes my ability to teach, then perhaps you should concern yourself less with my personal affairs and more with your lack of competence in the classroom."

The class stifled their laughter, and as for the Slytherins—Draco in particular—exchanged smirks and quietly high-fiving each other as they mocked Umbridge under their breath.

Umbridge's smile faltered, a flicker of irritation crossing her face before she regained her composure. "Of course, Professor Snape," she replied, her tone strained. "I was merely ensuring that all students receive the attention they deserve."

"As they always have," Snape shot back, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Now, if you're quite finished, I believe the students and I have more important matters to attend to than your baseless inquiries."

Umbridge pursed her lips but said nothing more, moving on with her inspection. Severus watched her with narrowed eyes until she was out of earshot, then returned his focus to the class, his sharp retort leaving a lingering tension in the air.

Alaric gurgled excitedly as he watched his mother stand before the class, teaching her students. The baby had been a special guest today, brought at the students' request to see him.

As Rosabelle continued her lesson, the door creaked open, revealing Dolores Umbridge. Her eyes narrowed as she noticed the baby in the room. "What is this, Professor Rosabelle?" she asked, her tone laced with disapproval.

Rosabelle smiled calmly. "A baby, Professor Umbridge. Surely you have seen one before?"

Umbridge's smile didn't reach her eyes as she continued, "Yes, but it's hardly appropriate or professional, wouldn't you agree?"

Rosabelle shrugged nonchalantly, then lifted Alaric into her arms. "Oh, did you hear that, Al?" She turned to Umbridge with a sweet smile. "Perhaps you'd like to hold him?"

Without waiting for a response, Rosabelle placed Alaric into Umbridge's arms. The woman was caught off guard and held the baby awkwardly. Alaric, who had been smiling just moments ago, now frowned, his little face scrunching up in discomfort.

Rosabelle's smile widened slightly, knowing all too well what that expression meant. As Umbridge frowned, an unpleasant scent reached her nose.

Alaric had decided this was the perfect moment to start pooing.

Umbridge's expression shifted to one of horror as she realized what was happening, while the students stifled their laughter. Rosabelle maintained her sweet smile, thoroughly enjoying the moment.

Umbridge quickly handed Alaric back to Rosabelle, her composure faltering as she tried to maintain her usual air of authority. The students, though trying to keep their amusement in check, couldn't help but exchange glances and stifled giggles at the scene.

"Perhaps," Umbridge began, her voice a little strained, "it's best if you attend to your... family matters outside of class time, Professor."

Rosabelle, still holding Alaric, tilted her head slightly, her expression unbothered. "Of course, Professor Umbridge. But I assure you, Alaric isn't a distraction. In fact, he seems to be quite the motivator for the students."

Umbridge's lips pressed into a thin line. "Motivation is one thing, but professionalism is another. I trust you'll keep your personal life separate from your duties here at Hogwarts."

As she hurried out of the classroom, she muttered bitterly under her breath, "Like husband, like wife."
