Rudra POV -
Jiji, Jijaji, hum chalte hai, Damini said in a croaky voice as she bent down to take bhaisa and bhabhisa's blessing.
(Jiji, Jijaji, I'll take your leave)
We were standing at the grand staircase at the entrance, bidding goodbye to bhabhisa's family. The servants were arranging the gifts in the carriages as everyone were bidding their goodbyes.
Her Masa and Bapusa were talking with my parents while her brother Nakula was speaking to Dhruva and Atharva. Damini was emotionally speaking with her Jiji.
With everyone around, I couldn't talk openly with Damini, express how much I was going to miss her, how much it hurt seeing her going away from me, how my heart was shattering into a million pieces at the thought of her not being near me anymore.
I stood watching her, my hands itching to hold her one last time, to hold her against my heart. But I couldn't. I stood at the same place, where months ago, we laid eyes on each other for the first time.
It seemed so long ago. I was an entirely different person back then. Closed off, unable to talk my heart out, didn't believe in love. But she had changed me for the good, taught me things and above all, taught me to love and have faith in it. The pain she must be going through at our separation must be immense too, but she was doing a good job at hiding it.
I fought back the tears stinging my eyes. I had never felt this way, not even when I had left for Dravid-desh. I saw as she hugged Tara and cried. Tara was also crying.
Humein tumhari bohot yaad ayegi, Saudamini, Tara said in a croaky voice, as they broke the hug. Damini smiled through the tears.
(We will miss you very much, Saudamini,)
Humein bhi Tara. Tumhare saath pichle kuch maas bohot aanand aaya humein. Wo saare kshan humein sada yaad rahega, Damini said tearfully.
(Tara, me too. I enjoyed the last few months with you a lot. I will always remember all those moments)
Tara glanced at me and back at Damini, gently cupping her cheeks
Prateeksha rahegi humein tumhari, Tara said pointedly. Damini glanced at me shyly and nodded.
(I will be waiting for you)
Tara nudged Damini towards me, assuring her no one will notice. With trepidation, Damini made her way to me and my heart instantly fluttered seeing her coming towards.
She just looked at me, her tearful eyes, fluttering between my gaze. Tears constantly flowed from them, each drop agonizing me terribly. I brushed those tears away tenderly, looking at her lotus like face.
Damini, hum aaj se pratyek kshan, keval aapki yaadon mein bitayenge, kinthu adhik samay nahi, I said and she frowned looking confused.
(Damini, from now on I will spend every moment only in your memories, but not for long.)
Kyonki sheegrh hee hum aapko yaha layenge, apni patni banakar, apna banakar, I said lovingly and she looked into my eyes and smiled.
(Because I will bring you here soon, by making you my wife, by making you mine.)
SAUDAMINI!! Beta come on, it's time to leave!! Her father called out and the reality of our separation was weighing on me. I held her hand reassuringly and left it. She started walking away from me and I felt rooted at that spot, unable to see her leave.
Tara came by my side and pressed my arm sympathetically. I gave her a sad smile as we went down and stood looking at my bhabhisa's family getting in the carriage and alighting horses. Bhabhisa was crying and bhaisa was consoling her.
