I'm not sure if I believe everything that were written here, but I continued reading anyway.

I stopped after reading that. I don't know if the content of this book is helpful. For a second, I doubted if this book was really the one Marielle was talking about, because this book doesn't contain the ways to kill a vampire. Instead, it's the history of the first vampire family.

Muli kong binalikan ang huling pangungusap. Paulit-ulit kong binasa ang nakasulat. Pilit tinatatak sa utak at tinatandaan.

How can this book help me kill that bastard vampire? Kung tutuosin wala itong kuwenta. Maliban na lang kung... isa siya sa kambal.

Hindi ko mapigilan ang mapatulala saglit. If that is true, then I'm fighting against the most powerful vampire—and not to mention, one of the first of their kind.

Shit! Ano ba itong napasok ko? Hate to admit this but this is indeed a suicide!

I shifted my attention back to the book. I tried reading through the other pages until the very last, but I still couldn't find the information I was looking for. The contents only revolved around the first family of vampires.

Pero ang malaking palaisipan sa akin ay bakit ganito na lang kagustong makuha 'to ng mga bampira. Kung ang nakasulat lang dito ay kung paano nabuo ang unang pamilya ng bampira. Ano ang rason para magkaroon sila ng interes dito?

I know because they've been tailing me since the moment I accepted the case of Ms. Villamor. They have been watching my every move. That also the reason why it takes this long for me to make a move. They're just waiting for me to get a hold of this book and  will snatch it from my grip.

But why? Could it be that this isn't just a simple book about the ancient family?

There's so many questions running through my head and I don't know where or how to find the answers.

I slammed the book shut and stood up straight with frustration. I stuffed the book into my bag, slung it over my shoulder, and turned to face the door to leave.

I hadn't completely stepped out of the room when something caught the corner of my eye. I saw a quick movement in the dark side of the room.

Itinutok ko ang flashlight doon pero wala naman akong nakitang kakaiba.

Pero hindi ako naging kampante. May iba akong pakiramdam kaya inilabas ko ang baril at kinasa. Isang beses ko pang inilibot ang paningin sa kwarto bago nagpasya ng lumabas habang nakataas ang kamay na may baril.

Nasa itaas na ako ng hagdan at pababa ng bigla akong mahulog dahil sa may mabilis na bumangga sakin. Thankfully, I managed to grab onto the wooden railing, preventing me from falling completely. I felt only the rush of air, but I knew what it was.
