Henry and Flora left the Thompson family home with darkened expressions.

With a single understated sentence, Ethan not only shattered Timothy's enthusiasm but also thoroughly humiliated Henry and Flora.

In front of the actual owner of the Rolex, Henry's boastful claim of buying it as a gift for his father-in-law left him utterly mortified.

However, Ethan's bold move came at a cost—Linda retaliated by making him do housework all day, nitpicking at every little thing and scolding him endlessly.

By dusk, when Sophia prepared to leave for a gathering, Linda insisted that Ethan accompany her, citing safety concerns.

Ethan knew full well that Linda's so-called concern for Sophia's well-being was merely an excuse to subject him to further humiliation.

Sophia initially refused to let Ethan tag along, but Linda was determined to make him suffer, and Ethan eventually ended up accompanying Sophia.

At 6 PM, the red BMW cruised down ZH City Boulevard.

Sophia's expression was icy as she drove in silence, not saying a single word to Ethan. She still resented him for bringing up the topic of divorce.

Ethan, on the other hand, didn't initiate a conversation either. Instead, he focused on observing the charm Sophia was wearing.

He noticed that the ominous aura surrounding her had grown stronger, now enveloping her legs and waist. At this rate, she'd face a catastrophic disaster within a week.

Another brush with death awaited her.

While Sophia stepped out to pick up some egg tarts along the way, Ethan quickly slipped a few talismans he'd prepared to ward off the aura into strategic spots—the seatback, the bottom of her handbag, and even her phone case.

Though he couldn't immediately rid her of the charm, he could at least delay the accumulation of harmful energy.

Sophia returned shortly after and resumed driving toward the club. Ethan could see that the aura had subsided significantly.

Just as he breathed a sigh of relief, a message popped up on Ethan's phone.
It was from Victor Blacke.

Victor, who had discarded The God of Warrior's Blade and started wearing Ethan's protective charm, was still experiencing a string of misfortunes.

He even narrowly avoided choking on water at lunch that day.

Victor urgently requested to meet Ethan.

Ethan initially planned to see Victor the following day but changed his mind after seeing the severity of Victor's situation in the photo he sent, his face ominously dark.

He sent Victor the address of the gathering.

"Texting Ms. Scarlet, are we?"

Noticing Ethan immersed in his phone, Sophia couldn't help but snap:
"If you're meeting her for dinner, just go. You don't need to tag along to Summer Breeze Club with me."

"I'll explain everything to Mom. I can take care of my own safety."

Her grip on the steering wheel tightened, the veins on her hand slightly bulging.

"No, that's not it."

Caught off guard by her remark, Ethan hesitated before shaking his head and replying:
"Victor Blacke contacted me. He's been unlucky lately..."

"No, actually, he was asking if Mom would sign that contract."

Ethan quickly changed his explanation. "I told him to speak directly to Mom."
