Savannah instantly recognized Ricky, a mocking smile appearing on her face.
"He's Ricky, a former suitor of mine. But he's bankrupt now."
She sneered. "Now he spends his days driving a taxi."
Savannah had once thought she was attached to a rich man from the West, expecting a share of the Ricky family's fortune—at least a few hundred million. In the end, she got only a few hundred thousand.
The sharp contrast made her feel like her youth had been wasted, filling her with hatred for Ricky, so she relished every opportunity to rub salt in his wounds.
"My God, he was your suitor?"
A few women gasped. "This loser dared to pursue you?"
Ricky's eyelid twitched, but after a moment of restraint, he bit his tongue and said, "Ethan, let's go inside."
Ethan nodded.
While Ricky was trying to keep things peaceful, Savannah wouldn't let him off the hook. She walked over with a few women, continuing her mockery.
"Ricky, you're driving a taxi now. How dare you come to eat here?"
"This is an exclusive place, do you even have the money for this? Even after driving for ten days, you probably couldn't afford a meal here."
"Don't get your arms or legs broken—now that would be embarrassing."
"Go away, this isn't a place you can come to."
The women giggled behind their hands, their eyes scanning Ricky with disdain.
Ricky could no longer hold back. "Savannah, don't go too far. You wronged me, but I said nothing. Don't push it too far or I..."
"You what?"
Savannah sneered, "Are you saying I can't even talk about your downfall? You have no tolerance, and you call yourself a man?"
Ethan patted Ricky on the shoulder. "Alright, Ricky, let's not argue with them. Let's just go eat."
"Eat? Are you kidding? You sure you're not here to do menial work?"
Savannah gave them a contemptuous look.
"This is Five Lakes Restaurant, it's members-only. Do you think you can get in?"
The women nodded in agreement, clearly disgusted.
"Stop pretending, it's nauseating just to see you two."
Savannah took out a bronze membership card. "Ladies, let's go in. I don't want to stay here with these bumpkins."
"We'll bring you the leftovers later," she smirked.
The women laughed and walked away. As Savannah passed by Ethan, she deliberately bumped her shoulder against his. "Good dogs don't block the way."
Ethan extended his hand, sidestepping her shoulder, and subtly activated the Jade.
"Bumpkin."
Savannah hummed arrogantly as she entered with her friends. When they reached the hall, she turned around and called out:
"You wanted to eat, right? Go ahead and try to get in."
The four receptionists eyed Ricky cautiously, worried he and Ethan might sneak in.
"Savannah, you're going too far."
Ricky, seething with anger, barked: "Even a broken boat still has a few nails! Let me tell you, I was a member five years ago."
He took out a card and handed it to the receptionist.
The receptionist swiped it, but the machine beeped and displayed:
"Sorry, sir, your card has expired."
Ricky froze, his face falling. He had forgotten that the membership required an annual fee of 100,000 yuan.
Savannah and her friends burst into laughter.
"Your card's expired?"
"Young Master can't even pay his membership fee, and he still dares to eat here?"
"Fatty, wasn't I right? You can't even get through the door."
"You're bankrupt, yet you still pretend to be a rich second-generation. Such vanity."
Ricky clenched his fists in frustration, a mix of anger and sorrow. A fallen phoenix is still less than a chicken.
"Ethan, I'm sorry, I wanted to treat you to something nice, but now... well..."
He gave a bitter smile. "Let's go somewhere else."
Ethan smiled and shook his head. "It's fine, we can get in through this door."
Although the receptionists wore forced smiles, their eyes were filled with contempt, thinking Ethan was beneath them.
Ethan sneered and took out the Vermillion Card, handing it to them.
The receptionists, initially impatient, froze when they saw the card.
The Vermillion Card!
That meant Ms. Scarlet herself was involved.
The receptionist swiped the card, and the machine beeped, displaying the Vermillion emblem and Ethan's name.
Authentic.
"Mr. Ethan, good evening."
The four receptionists immediately stood up straight, bowing with respect.
Suddenly, a flurry of activity erupted in the Five Lakes Restaurant. After a few chaotic moments, Kevin Lin rushed out with a group of men and women.
They scanned the room and hurried to Ethan.
"Welcome, Young Master Ethan!"
Savannah and her friends were dumbfounded.
They couldn't believe that Ethan and Ricky had entered, and even Kevin Lin had come out to greet them.
Thomas Lin was the manager of Five Lakes Group's branch and the highest authority at the Five Lakes Food Court.
Savannah, unwilling to accept this, scoffed at Ethan and Ricky: "You two are here to apply for a menial job, right?"
Thomas Lin was about to rebuke her when Ethan raised a hand, signaling for him to stop. He looked at Savannah with a smile.
"Miss Savannah, you have a disease."
Savannah's face flushed with anger. "You're the one with a disease. Your whole family has a disease."
"Don't believe me? Let me tell you about it."
Ethan grinned.
"Don't you fall asleep during the day, have trouble sleeping at night, suffer from a bitter mouth, and often experience a dull ache in your stomach?"
Savannah was stunned. "How... how did you know?"
"I've studied a bit of medicine. I can also tell that you often feel anxious, dizzy, and weak."
Ethan's voice remained calm. "These symptoms are dangerous for your health. If this persists, it could cause a blockage in your stomach and lead to stomach cancer."
"You're talking nonsense."
Although Ethan had nailed every detail, Savannah refused to admit it, her tone filled with disdain.
"How could a taxi driver know anything about medicine? Stop spouting nonsense."
Her friends were equally skeptical. They couldn't believe Ethan could diagnose her.
"Don't believe me? Just press on your Qi Sea acupoint, just below your navel."
Ethan casually added, "That'll show you you're sick."
"Charlatan."
Savannah sneered but couldn't resist pressing her hand to her abdomen.
"Poof—"
There was a loud, sharp sound, followed by a series of increasingly louder noises, filling the hall with a stinky atmosphere.
Ethan and Kevin quickly covered their noses and backed away.
The women also retreated three meters.
Savannah, mortified, shouted: "Bastard, I won't let you get away with this..."
"I didn't trick you. Your current symptoms are caused by poor stomach circulation."
Ethan smirked. "Now that you've let it out, you'll sleep well tonight."
He slapped Ricky's shoulder. "Let's go, we've got more to do later."
Ricky laughed and followed Ethan inside.
Everyone else quickly scrambled to get away.
Savannah, fuming, grabbed her phone and cried to Daniel Stewart: "Daniel, I've been bullied..."
Before she could finish, another round of noises erupted.
