After more than an hour of intensive effort, Dr. Sun and his team finally stepped back.
Cici had successfully passed the critical stage.
Her heartbeat, breathing, pulse, and all bodily functions were now approaching normal levels.
Looking at the stabilized data on the monitors, the attending doctors couldn't help but cheer aloud—only to freeze moments later, standing dazed by the bedside.
It was only now that they began to process what had happened:
A patient who had been declared dead had been brought back to life under their watch.
This wasn't a case of suspended animation or a miraculous self-revival.
Cici had truly succumbed to her injuries, only to be forcibly pulled back from death.
It was a story they'd be telling for the rest of their lives.
The entire team turned their gaze toward Ethan, who had stood firm amidst the chaos.
Their expressions were a mix of astonishment, admiration, and guilt.
The memory of their earlier insults and attempts to eject Ethan made them wish they could disappear into the ground.
Not only had they underestimated him, but they had nearly cost Cici her life.
"Smack—"
Dr. Sun stepped forward and bowed deeply before Ethan.
The other doctors followed suit, bowing respectfully.
"We're sorry..."
Their apology carried both remorse and profound respect.
Ethan waved it off with a smile. "It's fine. What matters is that Cici is alive."
"That's impossible. It can't be..."
At the doorway, Sophia's lips twitched as she struggled to accept what she had just witnessed.
Beyond her shock at Ethan's miraculous medical skills, she found it even harder to process the deference shown to him by Dr. Sun and the others.
Before today, Sophia would never have believed that Ethan—the man despised by the Thompson family—could earn such respect.
A pang of regret stirred within her for the harsh words she had said to him earlier.
But her pride held her back.
After all, a year of belittling someone wasn't something that could be undone so quickly.
"Hmph, just a lucky coincidence," she muttered, tilting her head arrogantly. "If he's so skilled, why couldn't he save Aunt Mary?"
It was a flimsy excuse, but it allowed her to cling to her pride. Someone as strong-willed as her couldn't easily lower her head to Ethan.
However, when she caught sight of Ms. Scarlet gazing at Ethan with endless tenderness, an unfamiliar discomfort began to swell in her heart.
Whether it was skill or luck, this time, she had lost to Ms. Scarlet.
As Dr. Sun and his team continued to monitor Cici, Ethan slipped out of the crowded room into the hallway.
The Nine Palaces Resurrection Needle had drained a significant amount of his energy.
Still, Ethan didn't mind. Bringing Cici back to life was worth every ounce of effort.
Besides, his Taiji Scripture would quickly restore his vitality.
