Margaret was furious. Of all times, why was Ethan causing trouble now?
Linda also shot Ethan a glance and then waved her hand to dismiss him:
"Enough, if you have no real ability, don't just stand around here. Can't you see we're all about to turn gray from the stress?"
"Remember to cook an extra serving of Four Happiness Meatballs, your Aunt Margaret loves them."
Ethan could only remain silent."Linda, Timothy, this matter still needs to be handled by you."
"We are the only relatives who have any success, if you don't help, Fiona really won't have a way out."
Seeing the difficult expressions on Timothy and Linda, Margaret's face turned sour.
"Can you really bear to watch Fiona without a job, stuck at home living off others?"
Fiona also chipped in with a sharp remark: "Aunt, Uncle, at the critical moment, you can't drop the ball..."
Ethan shook his head. No wonder this child couldn't find a job.At that moment, Sophia, who had changed her shoes, came over: "Aunt Margaret, Fiona wants to join Aurora Group?"
"Oh, I almost forgot about you, Sophia. You're the CEO, you know a lot of people."
Margaret smacked her head, her anger quickly turning into a pleasant smile, and she got up to pull Sophia to sit down:
"Sophia, come, come, help your sister out a little."
She then briefly explained the situation, and then pointed at Fiona, who was standing tall:
"If you don't help Fiona, her life will be ruined."
Margaret's gaze was intense: "Sophia, you're not the kind of people who would ignore this, right?"
After hearing this, Sophia reluctantly explained: "Aunt Margaret, Fiona, I really can't help."
"Though Mr. Han is approachable, we only know him by sight; we have no real relationship with him."
"And every year, there are at least eight hundred to a thousand people trying to get into Aurora Group, many of whom have powerful backgrounds, but even Mr. Han doesn't give them any face."
"Then what can we possibly do to pull strings?"
"Of course, I can try calling..."
Sophia didn't want to make empty promises but wanted to prepare Margaret for the reality of the situation. However, as soon as Margaret heard this, her expression darkened.
They came here to resolve the problem, not to hear about difficulties.
"No connections?"
"We've heard your family talk big all the time, but when it's time to help, suddenly there's no connection?"
Margaret tore off her polite demeanor: "You just don't want to help, right?"
Fiona stoked the flames:
"Mom, I told you, don't come here. You have no money, no power, who's going to acknowledge you as a relative?"
Linda also snapped: "Sister, Fiona, what are you saying? It's not that we don't want to help, we really can't!"
Timothy nodded in agreement: "Aurora Group is really strict, it's either strong capabilities or a solid background."
"How can you say we can't help? Have you tried helping? Did you go ask them, or pay to give gifts? You haven't done anything and you're already saying you can't help?"
Margaret said fiercely: "Is this how you help people?"
"If I didn't consider you were relatives, I wouldn't have even asked you for help."
She slapped the table with a thud: "I came here to ask, giving you all enough face, and this is how you respond?"
Linda snapped: "Is this really our fault?"
"Actually..."
As the argument was about to escalate, Sophia suddenly turned her attention to Ethan: "Ethan can really help."
She was reluctant to use Ms. Scarlet's influence, but seeing Margaret like this, she had no choice but to involve Ethan, even if it meant owing someone a favor.
"Ethan?"
Margaret's anger grew even more: "Sophia, don't joke around. Who doesn't know that Ethan is useless..."
"If you don't want to help, just say so. Why keep making up excuses?"
"First you say he's too insignificant, then you bring up Ethan as a shield. What's the point of all this? Do you think we're idiots?"
By now, Margaret was fully enraged.
She knew the truth—Ethan, the son-in-law, was a good-for-nothing. The Tang family saying Ethan could help was just an insult to their intelligence.
At this point, Linda realized what had happened: "Sophia didn't mean it like that..."
Margaret snapped, "So the Tang family has made it, huh? Looking down on poor relatives, not wanting to help, and now making up all these absurd excuses to avoid it. I'm really disappointed."
"If you really think we're beneath you, just say so. Don't come to us anymore, okay?"
Margaret started gathering her things, preparing to leave with her daughter.
Linda was so furious that she could feel her chest tightening.
Sophia saw her mother's flushed face and rushed to comfort her, telling her not to get angry.
Linda grabbed Ethan's sleeve:
"Ethan, call Ms. Scarlet and ask her to help."
She had to vent her frustration today, or she wouldn't be able to sleep tonight.
"This is a small matter, no need for Ms. Scarlet."
Ethan took out his phone and smiled faintly: "I'll just have my maid... no, a friend help out."
Then, he dialed Han Yue.
Not long after, he hung up the phone and looked at Margaret and the others: "It's taken care of."
"Keep pretending, go on, let's see how long you can keep up the act?"
Margaret slammed the box down in frustration and looked at Ethan's group with contempt:
"Such nonsense about being 'relatives.' This society really has no real family bonds anymore."
"Fiona, let's go, this is no place for us."
Margaret grabbed the box and ushered her daughter out: "Such a high and mighty family, we're not worthy of them..."
"Ding—"
At that moment, Fiona's phone buzzed.
She looked at the screen, startled, and blurted out: "Mom, it's a call from Aurora Group..."
