Half an hour later, inside a dimly lit room in a seven-story police station.
Martin Fletcher and Evan Mitchell turned on the lights and sat down in front of Ethan to interrogate him:
"Name?"
"Gender?"
"Where did you get the money to open the clinic?"
"How long have you been practicing medicine illegally? Which patients have you treated? How much money did you swindle from them?"
They bombarded Ethan with questions, hoping to quickly gather enough evidence to convict him. However, Ethan sat there with his eyes closed, resting quietly, not bothering to say a word.
They had torn up his three medical certificates right in front of him. No matter how cooperative he was, it would only be used against him, so he decided to save his breath.
"Kid, don't think that staying silent means I can't deal with you."
Evan Mitchell slammed the table angrily, "With that attitude, your crime will be even more severe."
"Ethan, we've already thoroughly investigated you."
Martin Fletcher spoke in an authoritative tone, "We're giving you a chance to confess and reduce your sentence."
"You'd better cooperate obediently. Otherwise, once your accomplices confess, you won't get the chance to be lenient."
"If that happens, it won't just be you who suffers; your family will suffer too."
"Don't forget, you're just a live-in son-in-law. If this gets out, won't your mother-in-law tear you apart?"
He was trying to use both threats and persuasion, hoping to dig up more dirt on Ethan to cover up the fact that they had destroyed his certificates.
Ethan remained silent.
"You little punk, what's with that attitude?"
Evan Mitchell was furious, "Do you believe I won't beat you up?"
Just as Evan grabbed a leather belt, there was a rapid knock on the door, and a subordinate rushed in.
Evan frowned slightly, "Did his accomplices confess?"
The subordinate nodded quickly, "Sir, we've identified Ethan's accomplices."
"Good, tell me what you found. Some people won't shed tears until they see the coffin."
Evan's spirits lifted, "Let's see his reaction now..."
"Boss..."
The subordinate interrupted, "The guy digging the septic tank is called Black Dog, a notorious thug from Sunrise Market, with over thirty men under his command."
Evan squinted, "A thug? Didn't expect a big thug to be doing manual labor. Interesting."
Though he was surprised, he didn't think much of it. A thug was still manageable.
"Any criminal record? How's he connected to Ethan?"
He tried to steer the conversation towards incriminating Ethan.
But the subordinate's next words shocked Evan:
"He has a long criminal record but nothing recent."
"However, Black Dog is a third-level member of the Four Seas Chamber of Commerce and is set to enter the headquarters by the end of this year."
Four Seas Chamber of Commerce? Victor Blacke?
Martin Fletcher sat up straight.
Evan's face grew solemn, "What about the other guys?"
