"Ethan?"

The respectful voice wasn't too loud or soft, but it was like a bolt of lightning from a clear sky to Sophie Smith's parents.

Sophie's face instantly turned grim, as dark as it could get. The relatives of the Smith family were equally shocked, staring at Ethan in disbelief.

"Ethan? What kind of joke is this?"

Sophie couldn't believe her ears and exclaimed, "Mr. Lin, you know Ethan?"

Kevin Lin didn't even glance at her, instead, he warmly greeted Ethan:

"Hello, Mr. Ethan. Hello, Mrs. Ethan."

"I didn't expect to meet you two here. It's truly my honor."

Confirming that the two were acquainted and seeing Kevin Lin treat Ethan with such respect, Henry Smith's family was left completely dumbfounded.

Sophie's mouth hung open, astonished. She couldn't believe that Ethan, of all people, knew her boss—Kevin Lin.

Although Sophia had a bad impression of Kevin, she gave a slight nod out of courtesy and said, "Hello, Mr. Lin."

Ethan, however, showed no interest. Tossing a shrimp shell onto the table, he asked coldly, "What do you want?"

For someone who once disrespected Sophia, Ethan wasn't about to forgive Kevin Lin for merely losing a hand.

"Mr. Ethan, I was wrong last time. I've meant to find a chance to apologize, but I haven't had the opportunity."

Sensing Ethan's hostility, Kevin Lin broke out in a cold sweat and bent at the waist as he said:

"Tonight, I wonder if I could have the honor of treating you to dinner?"

Kevin had already learned the truth—Ethan had saved Ms. Scarlet's daughter, and Ms. Scarlet had even knelt in gratitude.

Recalling his behavior toward Sophia at the Western restaurant, Kevin wished he could slap himself to death. Seeing Ethan now, he wanted nothing more than to make amends—and perhaps, win favor.

If he could establish a good relationship with Ethan, he might ascend to the core leadership and become one of the top eight executives instead of just a minor player.

Ethan initially wanted to refuse outright, but Sophia gently tugged at his arm, signaling him to show some grace.

"Another time. I'm full tonight."

Ethan refrained from telling Kevin to get lost. Wiping his hands with a napkin, he stood up and said:

"Leave me your card. If I think of it later, I'll let you buy me that dinner."

"Thank you, Mr. Ethan. Thank you!"

Kevin quickly pulled out a business card and respectfully handed it to Ethan:

"I sincerely hope you'll allow me to make amends."

Ethan let out a faint acknowledgment and casually slipped the card into his pocket.

Watching this scene, Sophie and her family nearly exploded with frustration. The Kevin Lin they tried so hard to please was treating Ethan like royalty.

The gap was simply astronomical.

Sophie felt even more aggrieved.

"Losers should stay losers. Why do you get to rise? And not just once—but repeatedly?"

Her eyes reddened, and she nearly burst into tears.

"Don't let us disturb your meal any longer."

Kevin Lin tactfully straightened up, then smiled at Sophie:
