Three minutes later, the elevator stopped on the eighteenth floor. Ethan followed Andrew Brooks and his group out, immediately sensing a wave of danger.
But when he scanned the hallway, he saw no one. On either side were rows of statues depicting figures from both Eastern and Western history.
His gaze fell on the Guan Yu statue at the end of the hall.
It was a life-sized figure, radiating a fierce aura. With a massive blade in hand, the statue exuded an imposing majesty.
Seeing Ethan's hesitant steps, Andrew asked curiously, "What's the matter, Ethan?"
Ethan slowly withdrew his gaze and smiled, "Oh, nothing. Just like Grandma Liu visiting the Grand View Garden—I'm a bit overwhelmed."
Hearing this, Lily Lin scoffed, "Country bumpkin."
"Hahaha, you're joking, Ethan," Andrew laughed. "With your abilities, could you really feel intimidated?"
He then gestured forward, leading Ethan and the others into the hall at the end of the corridor.
As the doors opened, the bright lights flooded in, and the spacious hall came into view. Inside, over a dozen people, both men and women, stood in elegant attire.
However, the most striking figure was a woman seated among them.
Dressed in black leather pants and jacket, her short messy hair had several strands dyed burgundy at the front. Her fair face bore a tattoo of a black snake.
Her eyes were narrow, framed by long lashes, giving her a perpetually squinting, dangerous look.
"Mr. Brooks, good evening."
Upon seeing Andrew and his group enter, the woman in black stood up with a smile. "Long time no see."
Her smile was radiant, but Ethan felt a chill run down his spine.
Andrew's expression turned cold as he recognized her. "Black Snake? So, it's you. I was wondering who had the guts to seize my cargo and even come to Zhonghai for negotiations."
"So, it's you—the beautiful viper."
He pulled out a chair and sat down. "But whether you're a snake or a dragon, you owe me an explanation tonight."
"By the way, where's Juewen?"
Hearing this, Lily and the Brooks family guards tensed up.
"Mr. Brooks, let's not beat around the bush," Black Snake replied with a charming smile.
"It was indeed I who hijacked your ship carrying the raw stones. Juewen, who was escorting it, drowned in the river. His fifty subordinates are now under my command."
"I now control the last ten kilometers of the fifty-kilometer river route from the Emerald Nation to the border."
"From now on, I am one of Thousand Treasures Group's partners."
"To show my respect and goodwill towards you, not only will I return the goods, but I'll also cut the shipping costs by half."
"This way, your cost for the raw stones will drop by another ten percent."
She stepped forward respectfully. "Congratulations, Mr. Brooks."
Ethan glanced at her, sensing the malice hidden beneath her courteous demeanor.
Lily, on the other hand, relaxed, thinking Black Snake was just a minor player given her attempts at appeasement.
"Dead?"
