I winced lightly and moved in my chair. I laid down my pen and glanced down. It was Tuesday and I was at the office.
The door opened and Kourtney walked in and placed a file on the table. "We've gotten the report from Liam, anything else you'd need?"
"Pain killers" I replied and she shot me a look. "My joints hurt"
"What are you? 80?" She muttered as she headed out. I sighed and leaned back on my seat. "hey boss " Bethany walked in.
"What do you want?" I went straight to the point. "Nothing, just..." She leaned on my table. "...I got some errands to run"
"Errands?"
"I'm getting married, come on!"
"Do you want the month off?" I asked. "Can you give it?" She asked back.
"Except today is your wedding day, you can run errands but if not, go back to work! I pay you to do that"
"Remember last week when you... disappeared, I was in charge! Even when Kourtney ran off to her date with Davis"
My eyes immediately shot to the clock, shit Davis! I'm supposed be out for lunch with him. I got out my phone and called him, he answered at the second ring. "Davis!"
"Are you serious right now?" Bethany asked in disbelief because I was ignoring her. "Pearl, I know you are about to bail" he said.
"What? No!" I drawled. "I know you are still at the office " he deadpanned. "No, I'm on my way, where are we meeting?"
"I'm on my day off, why not my apartment?" He asked. "Are you tryna pull a Kourtney on me?"
I heard him let out a frustrated sigh, "I'm on my way" I chuckled. "I'll make lunch"
"Sure" with that i ended the call and looked up at Bethany who still stood there. "What's a Kourtney?" She questioned and I smiled.
"I've got a better deal for you, why don't you be in charge today?" I bargained, getting up and grabbing my bag.
"Pearl!"
"In doing so, you get to leave tomorrow" I added and she huffed. "Here is the pain relief" Kourtney walked in with the drugs in hand, "I'll take that to go"
I took it from her and made a run out of the office before they began badgering me with questions and complains.
It was Tuesday and today I wore a white halter top with an open back and it's matching white tennis skirt and I topped it off with white clogs.
I felt the pain again and hissed, I really needed the drugs. Jeffrey pulled the door open for me and I got in, I supplied the address and he drove out.
The award show was in 4 days and I had the peace of mind that everything was in place. My phone began ringing and I glanced down at it, a smile slowly made way to my lips and I answered.
"Hey"
"How is your day going?" Aiden asked and I leaned back and sighed, "it's good and yours"
"What do you expect? I only find peace when I am out on lunch with you" he confessed and I glanced out the window with that silly smile playing on my lips.
"Flatter me all you want, Aiden but I'm already going out for lunch" I replied. "With your husband?"
"No, a cousin of mine. I was thinking of bailing because of how much work I had but I caved in anyways" I answered.
"Alright, when do I get a chance with you?"
"That's a dirty thing to say" I remarked, laughing lightly. "My chance to spend time with you again " he corrected.
