Chapter 241 - Unexpected

Tae knew it... he knew that shock was a very real possibility when his husband found out that he'd bought an island, not just a house.

Jungkook was staring at him, mouth agape, blinking every now and again.

There was incredible silence and Tae needed to pierce it with words.

"Talk to me, Kookie."

"The island? As in... the piece of land in the ocean?"

The CEO suspected that 'purchasing an island' could very well be grounds for divorce but since Jungkook hadn't fainted or left the area and he didn't look remotely angry, maybe it would be okay?

However, he didn't think that laughing would go down very well at all so he kept laughter at bay. "Yes."

"You named the whole island?" Jungkook looked for clarification.

"Yes. I... I bought the island... for us."

"What about the house?" He pointed at the phone that was still in his hands.

"That's ours. The development is on Ma'Ohi."

"Wait... development?"

"Yes. It has seven suites and a seven bedroom house intended for staff."

"You bought an island?"

"Yes."

"I thought you were looking for a house."

"I was but this development was part of a four acre island, so I bought it."

"I don't know what to say."

"Surprise!" Tae says with a smile on his face and hope in his heart that the shock will wear off and Jungkook can see the beautiful island they now owned.

Jungkook was out of words completely. He couldn't think of a single one to use. He knew that the holiday retreat would be excessive, extravagant, luxurious, ridiculously expensive... he was prepared for that... but his husband had well and truly exceeded expectations on a grand scale. There was a distinct possibility that this went beyond an eye roll.

"Say something, Kookie."

"An island? And I thought that matching cars was excessive." There was an element of humour there and Jungkook needed to find it. The most hilarious thing about it was that matching supercars didn't seem so bad, all of a sudden.

Tae hadn't given up hope on the matching cars situation but this wasn't the time to say anything about that. "It's only four acres. The man that owned it wanted to develop it so that someone could buy it and use it as income. Like a holiday resort."

"I don't know what an acre is? So saying it's only four acres... I don't understand."

"One acre is about the size of a football pitch."

Jungkook's eyes open wide, "only four? only?"

"There were bigger ones." The CEO reasons.

Eye roll incoming... Jungkook was no longer able to keep it at bay. "Tae, this is a really big deal."

Tae's stomach sank. If he was completely honest with himself he didn't think it was such a big deal. He had bought them a holiday home... it just so happened that it came on an island which was part of the deal. He didn't think it was life changing like when he'd bought Gravity to surprise his husband or was it? Had he misread a situation again?

"Is it? I... couldn't purchase the property without the land... please take a good look at the brochure and we can talk it through tomorrow? I can put it up for sale if you are really unhappy with it."
