There was a time in his life when Kim Taehyung didn't do anything that he didn't want to do - that was the pre-husband era of his life.
He also didn't put up with people like Yang Han-Shik.
But here he was, in the elevator ascending to the floor where Han-Shik and Emi lived.
"I cannot be bothered with any of his shit, so he'd better not start!" Jungkook exclaimed.
"Let's give him a chance. There must be a reason he's invited us here?" Kyong says in his best 'hyung' voice.
Tae smiles with his lips pressed together. He doesn't say anything because his husband had more or less verbalised his own feelings on the matter and he loved that about Jungkook. The CEO was proud of his husband who had clung onto hope that he could have some semblance of a relationship with his brother, even though Han-Shik threw obstacles in the way and made life extremely difficult.
Tae did not like Han-Shik... but he didn't have to. He could be civil at special events and the odd necessary occasion once all of this was over. Ara reminded him a few times that it's not fundamental that they like each other but they are in each other's lives whether they liked it or not so they should try to tolerate one another. Ara said he should imagine the scenario if Heeju didn't like Jungkook and vice versa... Tae's response was that at least his sister wouldn't fawn over his husband in that case and maybe they'd see less of her?! It was shameless that his sister fancied her gay brother-in-law and while she was practically engaged to said brother-in-law's brother!
The CEO appreciated his mother's help but the saving grace was the distance between Busan and Seoul and he'd never looked forward to returning home as much as he was right now.
"Any digs at my husband and we are leaving!" Jungkook hisses as the elevator doors open.
Kyong looks at his brother who wasn't waiting for a response, then looks at Tae who grins because he was trying to focus on staying upright. If there was a sure fire way to relieve him of the ability to function it was his husband claiming him and that's basically what just happened. The dancer hadn't discussed it with him or asked for his thoughts... he'd quite plainly and aggressively stated that they would be leaving and that was that... Tae couldn't cope! He didn't even realise they'd walked the length of the corridor until they were standing at Han-Shik's door, floating on the air of his husband's assertiveness.
Hobi would say he was a melt... and Tae would agree. Jin would say he was under the thumb and Tae would say he revelled in being under any part of his husband... he had no excuses but it was only a Jungkook thing... Jungkookitis, as he maintained on many occasions.
"Are you okay?" Jungkook asks Tae quietly.
"Not really, I..."
He wants to tell his Husband that he can't handle the foreplay... but the door opens and they are greeted by both Han-Shik and Emi which halts him from saying anything else.
Jungkook wants Tae to finish what he started but they are ushered into the apartment that is bright and modern. He's concerned that his husband isn't okay and probably doesn't want to be here... neither did Jungkook, really. They'd actually managed to spend some quality time together, not perfect or long enough but it was something. He would much rather be reconnecting and showing Taehyung affection than having a guided tour of his brother's apartment... even if it is a really nice place.
Jungkook glances at Tae at every opportunity in the hope that he will somehow find out what was wrong. He knew that they were in tune with each other sometimes but telepathy might be a little beyond them.
"Please, sit down. I'll make drinks." Emi tells the four men.
This wasn't going to be an easy situation to referee. One thing that she'd observed was that the occasion could turn sour at the speed of light, which was a result of the volatility of her husband and brother-in-law. They were both defensive for different reasons and it was usually Han-Shik who was the catalyst...
