Chapter 289 - Reflecting on the Past

"Wow! I am a very lucky man. My wife is the most beautiful woman in the world."

Jara blushes profusely, which was quite unusual for her, particularly when it was a compliment coming from her husband. She blamed the day itself and the emotions caught up with publicly declaring her love for Kyong.

"I hope you think so when I am not in my bathrobe."

"I could be lost for words later on."

"Were the boys okay?"

Kyong nods his head from where he stands in the doorway to their bedroom, talking to Jara's reflection in the large oval mirror as she sits at her vanity dresser. "Of course. They both forget I existed as soon as they saw Yejoon."

"That's probably because he gives them snacks."

"Our children are so easily bribed."

"Unless it's us that are doing the bribing."

"True... would you like a coffee?"

"No, thank you. Angel will be here soon."

"Okay. I might go for a child free walk when Heeju and Phoenix arrive."

Jara spins around on the cream, velvet covered, square stool, "Don't be too long."

"I won't. I will be back in time to change and wait for the car to pick us up."

Jara catches the kiss that Kyong blows her before he disappears. She turns around to face her reflection, pulling at the crows feet appearing at the corners of her eyes and sighing. She'd aged more than she thought since she first married into the family that would proceed to mute her in so many ways.

Jara had known that Nuri didn't approve of her even if in front of people you'd think otherwise as an outsider. She didn't even know if Ryan genuinely liked her? Or whether he felt the same as his wife?

She fretted a ridiculous amount the first time that Kyong took her for dinner to officially meet his parents. She'd seen Ryan more than Nuri at Yang Corp, usually as they walked through the gilded lobby towards the elevators. The people she saw most often were the staff, up to a certain level of management and then anything above that wouldn't dare to be seen in the coffee shop and restaurant were the employees ate and drank. Jara could never understand this because the company bought in the finest coffee and didn't scrimp when it came to coffee makers. The coffee shop was probably better than most on the street so she often wondered where they were buying their hot drinks?

Kyong was teased for visiting the level below where management didn't dare to go! Jara's boss thought that Kyong was lost the first time he appeared, perhaps he'd taken a wrong turn? A few of the catering staff found him attractive so he was the topic of conversation for a long while, which only heated up when he kept returning. Jara was shy and quiet, she looked down when she served him and concentrated on getting his order right. The other girls would always badger her, "What did he say?" and "What did he order?" and "Did he smell good?" Jara thought they were crazy, of course he was attractive but he was management... not just management, he was the owner's son!

One day she walked into work after a day off, immediately set upon by her colleagues because Kyong had asked where she was by name. She'd panicked... what had she done wrong? Why would he want to see her? Yet her reply to the girls was "Maybe I make the best coffee?" (Which could have been true).

Before she knew it, the small-talk turned into dating and that's when her colleagues were either happy for her or jealous. She wasn't keen on the attention it drew and it made other male staff think that they could treat them worse than usual... it made catering staff 'fair game', like until Kyong started dating Jara, no-one knew they existed (aside from a few lecherous types).
