Chapter 293 - Babies

"Understated for you." Namjoon says as puts a hand in the pocket of his cream trousers.

"Those trousers are not understated for you." Emery bites back.

The casting director could clearly see that Namjoon was taking fashion advice from his boyfriend instead of Jimin. The group used to complain about Jimin's input, how he would ask what they were planning to wear to a function, only for an outfit to arrive via courier within hours of the conversation. They all had something to say about the fashionista's interference, yet Emery has heard rumbles of 'not knowing what what to wear' since Tokyo stole their friend from them.

Namjoon looks down at the tailored trousers, he knows what they look like, he dressed himself, but he does it anyway in response to the way that Emery is looking at him. "Too bold?" He sighs, "I told P.J as much."

"Only you can describe cream trousers as 'too bold'." Emery doesn't know whether to laugh or cry at the comment.

"Are you talking about those trousers again?" P.J says from where he appears with fluted glasses half full with pink, fizzy liquid.

Namjoon's dimples appear, joyful indents in his cheeks, happy to see his boyfriend as he takes a glass from him, "Emery made a comment about how I am dressed."

"That isn't quite how the conversation went. I responded to being told that I look understated."

P.J giggles, "That suit is understated for you... not a rainbow or ombre in sight."

"No sequins either." Hobi adds, joining the conversation after replying to an email. He'd categorically promised himself that he wouldn't check his emails but he had a dreadful habit of not following his own advice.

"I didn't think the theme warranted rainbows or sequins." Emery says. He'd had an awful time deciding what to wear. The temptation was the star studded blazer in his well stocked wardrobe but he decided against that when his boyfriend showed him the grey, oversized, loose fitting jacket and trousers he was wearing. The suit that Hobi chose was pinstriped with silver metallic thread. It was a good mix of smart and casual, low-key yet glitzy... Emery was impressed... but he didn't think that his star studded blazer would look right beside a suit like that.

Emery was a self confessed fashionista. There was a time in his life when he really thought that he would go into design but he decided that he preferred to wear the clothes rather than design them. Modelling wasn't for him, not on a career level, he liked food too much, albeit that his diet was mostly healthy. He emersed himself in the world of fashion without a career in it and then his family and friends started to ask his advice and he embraced his sense of self. There were colleagues who asked for advice because they'd found a pair of trousers they liked but the top they'd bought didn't go with them or maybe they didn't have a clue what to wear at all?

Emery's profession was one that he really enjoyed. It gave him the best of many worlds that he like to dabble in, fashion being one of those. Was there a better feeling than watching an actor take the red carpet during awards season, nominated for a prestigious acting award, when that person had been cast by you? Emery loved that feeling... even though he found it disappointing when the red carpet outfit of choice was lack lustre.

Sometimes he was able to attend the events and judge them in person. Emery prided himself as being generally non-judgemental but there was a time and a place... the red carpet was one of those places.

Being in a relationship with someone like Hobi who had some knowledge about fashion but didn't really dedicate much thought to it, was great. Hobi would sometimes know what he wanted to wear but there were occasions when he had no idea and would always go to Emery for advice. The EGO owner's bugbear was Taehyung, which Emery always thought was hilarious because the CEO did not care. Hobi was intent on changing his friend's perception of 'casual'... who'd have thought that the answer was for Taehyung to find love? Hobi would still argue that there was more progress to be made but Jungkook was welcome to take the reins.
