"Jungkook..."
The dancer heard his name several times now and he'd heard his mother shouting in protest, demanding that Ho-Joon and Mi-Youn quadruple check the document... but there it was again... "Jungkook..."
Taehyung hoped that no one looked at him because he was loving this. Hearing his husband tell him that he'd arranged the flight home was the best part of the day until Ho-Joon named Jungkook as inheritor of the main house... the house that he left behind when he was eighteen. The gift came with a posthumous apology from Ryan who wanted to give his stepson something meaningful.
The house was the one thing that Nuri thought was guaranteed so her explosive reaction was instant and she'd even expressed anger that Jungkook was entitled to anything because he chose to abandon them all those years ago.
"That is my house!!" she yelled, unable to maintain any form of composure.
"As of today, the property legally belongs to Jungkook." Mi-Youn says firmly... again.
"I know my rights! I have a legal right as Ryan's wife!"
"If that's all you wanted, you should've made that clear to Ryan. We don't know about the rest of his assets yet." Han-Shik says, fed up of his mother's screeching. It was a house... okay, so it was a huge property with a lot of ground and it was the place they moved into before they were married... but it was still just a house and he doubted that his mother was upset for sentimental reasons. Han-Shik suspected that Nuri would've sold it and pocketed the money anyway.
Taehyung watches the couple that were actually his in-laws on biological grounds but he didn't know who they were. He didn't have any inclination to have children of his own, whether biologically or otherwise, but still he couldn't imagine not seeing one for seven years and then making no attempt to start a conversation with them. The only similarities that Tae can see are in appearance only.
The CEO knew that his husband would be experiencing a calamitous meltdown internally as he attempted to process the news that he now owned what was essentially his Stepfather's primary property. Tae was curious as to how Ryan managed to achieve this because he was legally married which entitled Nuri to a lot more than she was getting, which at present, was looking like purely financial assets.
"There is a file with your name on, that needs attention... if you could allow us to finish, you are then welcome to seek any legal advice that you deem necessary, Mrs Yang." Mi-Youn's voice is stern, she'd also like to go home. Her father and Ryan had laid some foundations and given her basic information about the people that would be present but they wanted her reactions to be professional, not from an emotional place.
Nuri changes instantly at the mention of a file with her name on and crosses her arms over her chest in silent defiance.
Kyong wants to get out of this place now. He needed time to go over everything with his brothers and to work through the logistics of running businesses from the other side of the country, regardless of the Seoul branch that he didn't know anything about, yet. He hopes that whatever is left for his mother will stop her theatrics... it was wearing thin. Kyong deduced that it must be domestic bank accounts that were left as he couldn't think of anything else substantial.
Ho-Joon pauses for a second, just to see if Nuri had anything else to say before he started:
"I will read what it says here... The contents of the will were intended to be the introduction of a new novel in everyone's lives, not a continuation of the story currently being told. The most important thing throughout my life has been my legacy and I've done whatever it's taken to achieve that..." he turns the page, aware of the contents because this part was something he'd been directly involved in, "... Everything that remains, aside from what is detailed within the will, will be left to Ho-Joon... me... until a time when the estate has been settled..." He knows that Nuri is about to shout so he waves an envelope and talks quickly, "... this has your name on it, Nuri. It is a spa break. You are permitted to keep your wedding ring and there is an inventory here of the property that belongs to you..."
