Chapter 41 - What it Takes to Unleash your Powers

Chloe pov:

I'm sitting in the library as im studying, and Red comes back in from talking to her mom. She sits beside me.

Chloe: How did it go?

She leans over to whisper back.

Red: pretty well, but I need to meet with her again after school to show her the tricks I learned how to do with the cards. I'm a little nervous.

She puts her hand on mine and rubs the back of it.

Chloe: I'm sure you'll do amazing. Besides, she might teach you more things you didn't know you could do too.

I can see her look a little more relaxed after that. Everything went pretty normal, and at lunchtime, Red didn't even have to go to court. She said that she told her mother that she had stopped doing it. So I guess it's good that she didn't immediately start doing that again. We ate like normal, but I wanted to talk to her about something important.

Chloe: After we eat, can we talk outside about something important?

Red: Sure.

I don't want to make her nervous now, but it's still something we need to talk about as soon as possible. After eating, I led her to a bench near a tree a little further from the school's building. It was pretty quiet there, too. We sat down, and Red was waiting for me to talk first.

Chloe: I think you may know why I brought you here..... we really need to talk about us.

Red: In what way?

Chloe: Well, we need to talk about how we act, how this relationship is going to work, and such.

Red: I honestly just can't have my mom ever know about our relationship. She'd kill us both if she ever found out.

Chloe: And I know that.... but I don't want to stop loving you. I want you to experience all the love you deserve, if it has to be a secret.... we can still do it.

Red: So how do we hide it? How can we guarantee my mom won't find out.

Chloe: Well, one thing is for sure is that we haven't gone public..... which will be a big help. No students will tell, and you can always order them not to.

Red: Since when do you encourage me to give orders?

She said a little smirky.

Chloe: I don't fully hate it.... you actually use your powers for good. At first, I was scared of it, but not anymore.

Red: So if we haven't gone public and we need to hide it from my mom... we can cover it up by saying we are friends. We can do everything we want to like go on dates on the weekends or hang out at our dorm. We just can't be too touchy in public.

Chloe: we can still hold hands and such, just no kissing. That would be a dead giveaway. I want you to still be able to hug me if you need it. Hugs are platonic. We can test out the waters if we need to.

I give Red a big reassuring smile. My face then dropped too seriously again.

Chloe: I want to make sure of something..... I want to know if you're mad at me for what I've done, the whole pretending not to remember you. I really don't want you to be mad at me. I just did what I thought would be best....

She took a moment to collect her thoughts.

Red: Well, I can't say that i was too too happy.... but that was mainly cause I thought I would lose the person you were. I am not mad at you..... but I want you to be 100 percent honest with me next time. I don't want this relationship to be based on lies and games. I learned that love is serious, and I hope you can also agree.
