Part 63 - Well Deserved Pampering

Chloe pov:

I can't believe Red didn't tell me it was her birthday. I only found out because of a letter she hid under the pillows. I knew I had to do something quick because it was already supper time. I rushed to the cafeteria and got everyone to wear hats and to surprise Red. I didn't know if Red would've been angry at me for doing this, but I knew I needed to make this day special for her. She didn't even know what cake was until I showed her. She got the first slice, and I watched as she took her first bite. Her face lit up, and she liked it. I'm so happy. While I was scrambling around, I realized i didn't have a present for her. I can't let her not have a present today. I told her I had something planned, but I honestly didn't. While Red and Mal were talking, I pulled Evie aside.

Chloe: we need to get her gifts or something for her birthday, but idk what to do.

Evie: Hmm, what if we are her to a shop, whatever she eyes we'll buy.

Chloe: That genius..... but what else? I mean, shouldn't we do something she wants?

Evie: we can ask her after the shop when we give her the gifts. Maybe she doesn't want to do anything.

Chloe: I guess that's fair.

I then walked over and sat beside Red.

Chloe: So what do you think?

Red: I like it..... thanks, Chloe..... I was expecting to celebrate it alone again. My mom never believed i was deserving to celebrate my birthday. My tutor Maddox was the only one who even knew it was my birthday.

Chloe: Well, now, you have us. Me, Evie, Mal, Uma, and Audrey.

Red: Yeah, but they all in their 30s

Mal: What's wrong with being 30?

Red: Nothing.... it's just that the only friend my age is Chloe. That's all.

Chloe: So. Since it's your birthday and there's no way I'm letting you go to bed unpampered, I figured we goninto town and went to a cute little shop I've been waiting to bring you to.

Red: unpampered?

Chloe: Yep.

I smiled, and soon we were done eating, so we headed out to the shop. I didn't tell her my plan that Evie and I discussed because I want her to be as oblivious as possible. Once there, Red immediately started to look at everything. I noticed her picking up a few things to take a better look before putting them down. After she walked away, I grabbed it and gave it to Evie. After 15 minutes of just letting Red walk around, she then leaves the shop with me behind her. While Red was distracted, I did ask Evie and Mal to buy and wrap all the gifts up before heading back to the dorm. Once outside of the shop, Red saw an ice cream cart and grabbed Mt wrist, bringing me to it.

Red: Let's have some.

Chloe: Great idea.

So I paid and gave Red her ice cream before we sat on a nearby bench.

Red: Hey, where did Mal and Evie go?

She said, looking around the street.

Chloe: Oh, Mal got a tummy ache from the cake, so Evie took her back to the dorm to rest..... but I'm here.

I smile as Red licks her ice cream.

Chloe: Hey, Red? Was there anything you wanted to do but weren't able to?

Red takes a second to think before pulling out a paper from her pocket before having it to me.

Red: There's so much that.... I made a list. I keep it in my pocket in the hopes that one day I'd be able to do at least one.
