Queen of the elements (Book 4 of The Fire Within)

Part 59: Memories

(Diego, Lila, Five and Y/n decided to go to the one place they were almost guarenteed to find answers. Their father's house. They had know Luther, Allison and Viktor had already went and they needed to show them what they had found. Due to the others taking Diego's van, they got a cab that brought them straight to their father's house. Suprsingly when they started heading inside, none of the guards stopped them. When they entered they saw Luther, Viktor, and Allison all sitting on the couch with their father and another women facing away from them.)

Diego: Hey!

(Everyone looked at the group who had walk in and Diego held the file up.)

Diego: We need to talk about Ben. 

(Diego started to explain everything about what they had found. Throughout Diego's explanation, she couldn't help the feeling that someone was watching her. She glanced around and fund the women with bright blonde hair that she didn't recognize was staring at her. She was hard to read but Y/n could have swore she saw something in her eyes. Recognition? Greif? Longing? It was hard to tell. She forced her attention back to Diego's explantion.) 

Diego: In Moldovan. From Moldova. And it's most redacted. 

(Allison holds her hand out and Diego hands the file to her.)

Allison: Great. So we can't read it or see it. 

(Five walks over nest to Diego.)

Five: From what I can tell, this document is from our original timeline. It explains how Ben died. 

Y/n: It refers to it as the "Jennifer Incident." That's one hell of a coincidence. 

Luther: We already know how Ben died. 

Y/n: Then tell us. 

Luther: Well, it was a tragic accident. Ben, our Ben, died because we failed as a team.  Nobody was responsible and...

Five: And what? 

(Luther looks confused and stops talking.) 

Five: Allison, how did Ben die? 

Allison: It was a tragic accident. Ben died because we 

Allison and Luther: Failed as a team

Allison, Luther, and Diego: Nobody was responsible, yet we were all responsible.Ben Hargreeves represented the best of us. Ben was the Umbrella Academy. 

(It sounded like it was rehearsed as they spoke togther but the looks on their faces proved it wasn't.)

Y/n: Okay, that's not normal. 

Lila: What kind of sick party trick is this? 

Five: Okay, can anyone of you remember how Ben actually Died? Anything? 

(No one responded)

Viktor: I wasn't there. 

Y/n: It was after Five and I left. So that means it was down to the 3 of you and Klaus. 

Five: You think you'd remember something about the death of your beloved brother.

Y/n: Unless something forced you to forget... or someone. 

(She looks over at Sir Reginald Hargreeves. This was too weird to not involve him.)

Luther: What is going on here? 

Five: Isn't it obvious? 

Y/n: Someone is playing putty with your hippocampus. 

Diego: Messing with our memories. 

(They all look at their father.)

Reginald: As facinating as this may be, I assure you I haven't the foggiest notion of what this is about. 

Y/n: Why do I doubt that? 

Diego: You know something old man?

Reginald: You are speculating about the actions of a completely diffrent version of me. 

Y/n: Not completely diffrent. At the end of the day, you are still you. The same you that's been in every timeline so far. The same you that is a cold, manipulative, cruel old man. One that will do something just because he can and never stop to think if he should. The one that treats the whole worls as an experiment, and for what? We both know this sounds like something you would do. Something you know how to do, so how do we fix it? 

Reginald: There may or may not have been a certain clandestine project with a certain clandestine intelligece agency. 

Five: Human experiments on the mind. I should known.

Reginald: Psychological warfare was all the rage in the 60's, but it was only a brief contract. 

Y/n: Psychological warfare! My god, you really are a sick bastard. 

Luther: So you can erase memories? 

Reginald: With the human mind, anything is possible, young man. 

Lila: If you can erase them, you can restore them?

Reginald: With the proper technology. 

Lila: Which you have? 

Reginald: Natually. I'm sure it's in this building somewhere. 

Five: All right, old man, you're gonna put 'em back, each and every memeory to do with Ben's death. Because if you erased the Jennifer incident, that means there was something important enough that you'd take the time to get rid of it. 

Reginald: I will do no such thing. Right now, we need to track down the girl before it's too late. 

Y/n: You will restore their memories. 

Reginald: Is that a threat? 

Y/n: (creates fire in her hands and stares at Reginald.) Yes. 

(The blonde lady finally too her eyes off of Y/n and talked to Reginald.)

Woman: Reggie, please. 

Reginald: Darling, this is messy work. It could take hours, days. 

Woman: Whatever chain of events has been set in motion is ultimately your handiwork. Whatever timeline it happened in, help them. Please. And if you don't do it for them, do it for her. 

(Reginald sighs.)

Reginald: Alright.
