Part 86: Subway Rat

(Five, Y/n and Lila leaned against the subway with a fire that Y/n had made so they could cook some animals that they had caught in traps.)

Five: I don't think I can eat another subway rat. 

Lila: If you add an orange peel to it, it kind of tasts like duck a l'orange. Thanks for the orange tree, Y/n. 

Y/n: No problem. 

Lila: Are you sure you're not hungry?

Y/n: Yeah, I'm technically an immortal, so I don't really get hungry. Even if I did, I learned long ago how to absorb the energy and nutrition I need from fire. 

Five: She eats fire. 

Y/n: (laughs at the old joke.) I do not eat fire

Lila: Didn't you eat an apple off the tree you grew yesterday?

Y/n: I can still eat, I just don't need to to stay alive like most living things do.

(Lila nods.)

Five: Care to guess how long we've been here?  

Lila: Long enough I found my first gray hair. And it's not on my head.

Y/n: Didn't need to know that. Have you been keeping track? 

Five: Yes, you wanna take a guess. 

Y/n: 6 years, 7 months, and 3 days. 

Five: Well, according to my calendar, it's been 6 years, 5 months, 2 days. 

Lila: Yeah, well, we'll find a way home soon enough, right? 

Y/n: I hope so. 

Five: If we don't get stabbed, shot, or blown up the next time we go topside. 

Y/n: That would put a damper on things. 

Five: In some of those timelines, we would've been lucky to get out alive.

Lila: Yeah, well, we're still kicking, so we must be doing something right. And I'm sure it helps that we have the badass queen of elements on our side. (Lila pats Five on the back jokingly.) Talk about marrying up. 

(Five looks at Y/n lovingly and wraps an arm around her.)

Five: Trust me, I know.
