Part 83: 4 years in

(By now the subway stations had become more of a home then any other home they had in the past. This life became normal for them or at least as normal as it could. That's one upside of growing up in the apocalypse, you never got attracted to any one place because you could only stay their for so long. They had found a system that got them though almost anything. Lila had gotten a peice of glass stuck in her foot once and Five had to pull it out while Y/n used her powers to numb the pain and help slow the bleeding as well as clean it. Y/n started helping Five shave and cut his hair. Five didn't make it easy for her though as he kept trying to make her laugh while she was doing it making it take longer than nessescary. Despite them starting to settle into their new lives, they never stopped looking for a way home. Hope was fading in all of them, Lila specifically. She became more distant, seemily trapped in her own thoughts, she tended to stay at the opposite end of the subway and when they stopped at stations she spend more and more time exploring other timelines, making Y/n and Five wait for her to come back before heading out again. Lila didn't seem to care as much anymore, like she had given up completely. Five would never admit it to Y/n but he started to wonder if it was worth finding their way back home anymore. They had found a couple of nice timelines. Quiet and relaxing. He started to imagine himself and Y/n living there, away from all the stress of their past, being able to live out the remainder of their days together and in peace. It sounded like a dream to him. All he's ever wanted, having a life of his own with Y/n safe and by his side but he knew she would never agree to it. She wanted to make it home to their siblings and she hated relaxing. Y/n needed the adventure, the fighting, the challenge. It's what kept her going. What gave her life. What fueled the fire within. Taking that away would leave her with only her thoughts. It would be worse than a death sentence for her and Five knew that, so he kept his thoughts to himself.)
