"I think I'm dying..."

Son Wu said, his words leaving his dry, bloody lips in a low, weak wheeze.

"Wu...!" Aether said, his voice tinged with worry.

"Lord Son, don't give up just yet. The Lady Guuji will heal you soon...!" Kazuha said.

...

"Ei."

Wu said.

Raiden Ei paused in the midst of an order to her men, snapping her gaze to Wu's marred, bandaged back.

"We aren't done here... If and when I recover, I'm coming back for you." Wu said.

"Are you kidding me, you fool...!?" Miko hissed, fighting the urge to lambast him.

"...Very well." Ei uttered. "Do not dishonor your oath and die prematurely..." She said, her tone neutral.

Kujou Sara gritted her teeth. She couldn't stomach such a threat being levelled at her god. A single spark of electro ran down her index finger, a hair-trigger from manifesting her bow and levelling a shot. She could very well kill this man in the state he was.

"Do not try it, general." Ei uttered, and Sara tensed. "If you would harm this man as he is now, I will personally have your head for treason. This war is over. Anything that happens afterwards is between that man and I, and us alone." She said.

...

"Understood..." Sara said, her gaze downturned.

"Can we please hurry...? This really friggin' hurts...!" Wu said, his bravado melting into a pained whimper as the agony of his body began to finally set in.

"Hush... All of you, gather around..." Miko said, and Aether, Kazuha and Paimon huddled close to Wu. Miko leaned forward, pressing her forehead to Wu's, before they all vanished in a flash of Sakura petals.

----------

Whsh...!

In a burst of Sakura petals, they reappeared at the top of the steps of the Grand Narukami Shrine.

"Hey, so was that contact with Wu necessary for the teleportation, or...?" Paimon asked.

A fox manifestation appeared next to Paimon, hissing at her as the small bundle shrieked, cowering behind Aether.

"Quick, we need to hurry, his life force is near completely bled away...!" Miko said, her voice laced with an unusual worry. Wu had begun to lose consciousness, his eyelids drooping as the light faded from his eyes.

"H-Hold on..." Aether said, and they came to a halt.

...

...

...

"Why is it so silent...!?" Kazuha asked.

The wind had died, and the Sakura petals that once flowed through the air all sat in varying layers across the shrine grounds, what petals that detached from the trees fluttering straight down.

"Someone's coming...!" Paimon said.

A lone Watatsumi insurgent slowly strode towards them. A common foot soldier.

"Where is lady Sangonomiya!? We have Son Wu, he needs medical attention!" Kazuha said hurriedly.

"My apologies, the Lady Guuji will be arriving shortly... I went on ahead to collect something."

The visage of this common soldier flickered with red light, his silhouette flashing with a different appearance entirely.

This was no common soldier. Not even an Inazuman.
