"How long has it been...?"
Son Wu dodged a diagonal slash that parted the fabric of this reality, a black slash opening up where the edge of the Musou Isshin carved through the air. Within an infinite darkness, and within that shone, for a single infinitesimal moment, a glowing purple iris.
This had been repeated thousands of times.
Different angles, different speeds, and different methods of deflecting or dodging an attack from her.
Dozens upon hundreds of her strikes would come, and he would be forced to dodge each and every one before he had even a modicum of a chance at even trying to hit her back.
"Minutes...? Hours...? Days...? Weeks...?" Wu thought.
"There's no way to tell the time of this place.. the moon... it doesn't shift, doesn't change its position... Perhaps the color of the horizon shifts slightly, but that might be because of her mood..."
Wu spun, letting out a wide, conic blast of ki, the blast dimmed down to the highest degree to force her to dodge but not waste energy.
Raiden Ei moved in a flash, stepping around the beam and swinging upwards. Wu leapt back, flipping through the air and landing with a feather-light impact, boosting back and coasting backwards on the dark sands as she came right for him, dashing towards him.
"We've been fighting for so long... My limbs ache... and I'm tired... The initial determination... the rage... it's gone... Bah, shit, here she comes again-
Ei dashed forward, swinging sideways for his throat.
Wu amped his ki output more, flashing out of her range, only to blast forward the moment the blade passed, swinging down with his spear. Ei flickered out of the path of his strike, and Wu barely ducked backwards as the Musou Isshin coasted above his head, slicing off a few strands of his hair.
Wu and Ei thrusted their palms forward, blue ki colliding with sparking electro, letting out a white flash that sent both of them flying back.
"And just like that, the exchange is reset..."
Wu panted, low, long, and deep breaths. Ei only stood still, gazing at Wu with the same cold determination.
"The difference between us is that she doesn't get tired... Miko says Ei put her ego within a doll, either way, I'm either fighting a representation of that doll or her ego itself, and neither of those sound like things that an get tired... Her stamina... Is it infinite...? How much longer can we go before I slip up...? Before I take a hard hit, more than one hard hit...?" Wu thought.
He gazed down at his arms. Small scuffmarks from his exchange with the Shogun puppet, topped by new ones from Ei. On the edges of his forearms were the smallest cuts where the Mussou Isshin had tasted the smallest slivers of his skin. More would come, each one deeper and messier than the next.
"I can't waste my energy, but I can't match her unless I go all out... But she'll keep coming at this exact pace indefinitely, hell, maybe she can go even harder than this...! She'll break me down until I make mistakes, and then it'll all be over...!" Wu clenched his fist.
"She will win the battle of attrition due to her apparent bottomless well of stamina... With each moment, I grow closer to a fatal mistake, while she is permanently at her full capability."
Wu's eyes widened with shock as Ei's crisp words left her lips.
"That's what you're thinking, right?" Ei asked in the calm, almost amiable tone of hers.
