"Explain yourselves, now!!!"
Wu yelled, his voice booming as his ki erupted. He stood before a pile of confiscated visions, every one of them taken from a large fraction of the soldiers standing before him.
"L-Lord Son..." One of the soldiers stuttered muttered.
"Do you know what these are...? What they do!?" Wu asked.
"They're lost visions... we became their new masters, and used them to-"
"These are delusions, not visions! They sap the life force from their users! The more power they use, the more it drains from your lifespan!!!" Wu yelled. "Did NONE of you remember my words? What happened to cultivating TRUE strength!? To not accept handouts of borrowed power!?" Wu spat.
"W-We-"
"Not only have you dishonored me, you've dishonored yourselves. You've put yourselves at risk for a power you haven't earned...!" Wu said.

"Lord Son... Despite all you have said... I still want my delusion back."
Wu's gaze tore to Teppei as he spoke.
"Excuse me...!?" Wu hissed.
"...I am just a man... just human... No matter how much I train, how hard I push myself, I have no potential... no chance to achieve greatness... not quick enough for it to make a difference..." Teppei said. "But if I take up that tool-"
"You dare...!?" Wu snarled. "I told you that-"
"I know what you said!!!" Teppei shouted back. "But if I want to pay that price for power, if I want to have a chance at fighting by your side, what right do you have to deny me!? To deny us!?!?!?" Teppei yelled.
"You fucking...! I'm not asking you to throw your lives away-"
"But that's the price I'm willing to pay!!! To see this war end! To see peace and prosperity brought to the people I care about!!! If I can throw down myself for the sake of others, if I can pay that price for strength it will all be worth it...!" Teppei said, his voice shaking.
"No... No, you...!" Wu said, faltering as the anger quickly left his eyes. "You don't need to...!" Wu said.
"We've all heard the stories, Lord Son. You would offer up your life time and time again for those you stood by... for the innocent and the righteous... How can you deny us this same right...?" Teppei said.
"You...!" Wu's eyes lit up with pain and confusion.
Here it was. Finally.
They were finally living up to his expectations. Their ambitions burning so bright they would throw their lifespans and lives away for the sake of achieving it.
So why...
Why did this feel so wrong...?
Why did he feel sick to his stomach at the thought of offering their lives for his sake?

"Who stands with him?" Wu regained his bearings, asking solemnly.
A few dozen soldiers raised their hands.

"Step forward and take up your delusions." Wu declared. "When the time comes, I'll destroy all that remain on the ground..." Wu turned, trudging away.
