"Ma'am," Daniel said. "I have information for you."
"Is it about Chaldea?" The Platted Knight spun her chair to face him and saw him holding Beryl's card. "Where did you get that?!"
"I found what killed Master Beryl and Master Daybit."
"What? How?"
"Let me show you." He slid the card into the reader and showed her the final recording the two made before they died.
The Platted Knight stood, her body barely moving. She knew what she had to do, and she was ready to face the consequences.
"Ma'am? Are you alright?"
"This ends... today!" The Platted Knight slammed her fist into her desk. "I'm done playing with the people of this realm. It's time I end EVERYTHING!"
Alisha set her coffee on the table and asked for Chaldea's cooperation in sending Nelli's forces away from town. Since their next mission was in the rotting forest, maybe they could lead the enforcers there to delay the church's plans. Alisha needed more research before they could fight Nelli. She also had another problem. The Platted Knight was in the area, and despite losing her magic to Van Gogh, she was a threat to the underworld. Alisha asked Chaldea to take care of her while she was weakened. Yu leaned her head on her wrist. Someone was paying the underworld to weaken the Platted Knight.
Despite how suspicious it was, Chaldea and the underworld's goals aligned.
A map of the rotting forest was spread on the table. Akko was unsure if going there was a good idea. After all, it was a place forsaken by the gods, and the remaining people living inside were scared of those entering. Besides, Yu was unable to join, meaning they lost a fighter. Akko stood from his seat. Despite being a coward, he was convinced by Laurine to help them. And Sofitia offered as well. They wanted to meet the Platted Knight again to understand her.
Chaldea stood at the edge of the rotting forest. The ever-changing trees creeped Van Gogh out. She clung to Galatea as the others entered while they took the back. The first town was empty. The people were scared to speak to Chaldea and pulled their curtains over the windows. They were used to the Church or the council trying to get them inside Xiatian's domain again, and liked living freely. Yang knocked on one of the doors, hoping her status as an idol meant something to them, but it didn't. She heard four locks activate on the next house she tried and got a door slammed in her face before giving up.
She returned empty-handed. None of the people cared who she saw, and most didn't know her name. A noise got her attention, and she turned to see the Platted Knight bowing to one of the residents before leaving the house. She saw Chaldea and fled. Her mission wasn't to deal with them. She was stopped when Van Gogh raised a wall of thorns between her and the town exit.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"We're following Priscilla. What are you doing?" Galatea tapped her rod on the ground.
"The haunted mansion." The Platted Knight pointed at the large building covered in black vines. "I'm wrapping up the final pieces of my mission, which is NOT your business."
"We're going with you."
"What?"
Akko held his hand to his forehead. "Galatea!"
"I don't trust you," Galatea said, getting in the Crypter's face. "If you're going into the mansion, we are too."
"We don't know anything about it!" Akko took her shoulder and brought her in. "We aren't prepared to face it!"
"If she knows about it, she'd better start talking."
"Chaldea," the Platted Knight groaned. "Why are you always in my way?! Fine. I'll tell you what I know."
