"Is all of this really necessary?" Aries asked, she sat loosely in a chair with Alice trimming Aries hair.
Lily had been going through her closet muttering something about a very specific dress, effectively throwing the ones that didn't meet her expectation behind her.
With how many were thrown around the room, it was safe to presume Lily enchanted it with an extension charm.
"Of course it's necessary, new year, new Meredith." Alice smiled, snipping another small chunk of hair.
Lily giggled, "Plus tomorrow we can get into the makeup, maybe turn it into a girls thing to get you ready."
"Lil, I don't think-"
"Blimey, what is all this?" Honey walked through the door in confusion.
"Remus challenged Meredith to wear something out of her comfort zone for their date, Lily's been searching through her closet ever since." Marlene grumbled.
Aries sighed, "Exactly that, a date. It's not a school dance or a marriage proposal, so what's the big deal?"
Alice smiled, "Mere, it's perfectly acceptable to treat the night before a date like a celebration. It's what we did when I started going out with Frank and Marlene with Gideon."
"Don't be a tosser, Mere. It's more fun if you just allow yourself to relax." Honey grinned, sitting on Lily's bed with Marlene, "Me next Al, my hair is an overgrown bush." She felt her blonde curls.
"Couldn't agree more, Hon. Plus your wardrobe could use a good kick out the window." Marlene scrunched her nose in disgust.
"Oi! There's nothing wrong with how I dress."
Honey scoffed, "almost everything you wear is green and black."
"I'm a Slytherin. Comes with the territory." Aries shifted in frustration, she didn't quite like the negative feedback.
Lily pulled out another dress, scanning it over, "your favorite color is red." The dress in her hands also happened to be red.
Honey got up to assist Lily, shaking her head, "too tight."
"Why not go shopping for a new wardrobe?" Honey asked, pulling out a rather long blue dress before throwing it over her shoulder.
"I've been busy."
"You've made yourself busy, you mean."
"Look I like the way I dress and I like my comfort zone."
Marlene rolled her eyes, "Bloody Salazar, Mere. You've never liked it. Your parents are dead, you don't need to hide what you like anymore."
"Marlene!" Lily scolded, pausing her search.
"She's right, Mere." Honey admitted, receiving a glare from Lily, "Everything you have is a reminder of everything your mother wanted you to be. If I remember correctly, you never wanted anything to do with that. So why not change it up."
Alice twisted the chair towards the mirror, showing Aries her finished product. The quiet girl had lightly curled Aries hair, allowing them to twist and turn just above her chest.
Aries smiled softly at the girl she saw in her reflection. Jet black hair paired with her father's grey eyes.
"Maybe a change would do me some good." Aries breathed out in defeat.
Alice nodded, her eyes slightly wide in agreement.
"Perfect! Let's go shopping!" Lily announced, dropping yet another dress she rejected.
