Aries didn't get much sleep that night, her body tossing and turning in her bed while her mind kept her awake. Aries looked over at her nightstand where a clock stood. It was barely six in the morning, the night sky still active.
Aries thought about what Dumbledore had told her. About reading his memory without him being aware. She wondered how practicing could even be possible.
Ben and Dumbledore were aware of what Aries could do and would see it coming. But what if she tried on someone random and they knew someone was in their head?
Maybe it didn't have to be on someone random.
Aries got out of bed, leaving herself in a tank top and putting on a pair of sweatpants. Quietly, she left her dorm and walked into a vacant common room. Aries turned, making her way down the steps of the boys dormitories, pausing when she saw her brothers name on the door.
The raven haired girl gently opened the door, squinting a bit before her eyes adjusted to the darkness. Regulus laid asleep on his bed, which happened to be closest to the door.
Aries sat on the floor by his bed to make sure she wouldn't be seen if anyone awoke.
She closed her eyes trying to remember how she managed to do it the first time.
It was in the Hospital Wing after a full moon. She had been bandaging up Remus when he had felt so close. Aries remembered feeling such a strong desire to know everything about him, every last detail.
It was his eyes.
She had fallen right into them and received each memory that floated her way.
Aries frowned to herself. How was she supposed to read her brothers mind if his eyes were closed.
Instead of staying in his dorm, Aries left as quietly as she came in. Her feet took her away from the boys dorms and left her sitting on the common room couch in defeat.
What would it take to practice if the only other people that have the same gift are dead or bias. How could she learn if there was no way to properly practice.
Maybe she didn't have to.
Aries remembered her cousins words, ask for help if you need it.
So that's what Aries did.
Knowing Sirius was most likely awake from Aries tossing and turning, she wondered if she could reach him from the dungeons. Carefully opening up her mind, she searched for her brothers thoughts.
It wasn't quiet while she search, it was loud. Dreams and nightmares covered every voice. Some thoughts were quiet, some were so loud it made Aries wince. Some Aries couldn't have skipped over faster, others Aries was chocked and curious to listen.
Aries paused for a moment once she heard voices she began to recognize. A nightmare from Gideon Prewitt, while Fabian wasn't dreaming at all, Aries ignored them, continuing around.
She flitted from Marlene to Honey to Peter then pausing once more to find herself in the midst of Remus's thoughts.
It was a hazy dream, but she could see it clear enough to watch as he danced with what looked to be Aries. They were happy, dancing and giggling when he spun her around.
Something shifted in his dream when she had whispered something in his ear, the moment she pulled away, an open door appeared out of more hazy clouds. She had slowly begun walking backwards but paused before the door, saying something incoherent.
It may have been incoherent to Aries while she watched from afar, but Remus knew exactly what she had said and knew exactly what she meant. He rushed over to her, lifting her over his shoulder, slamming the door behind them.
