(A/N: Hey fellas, Author here, just a side note, this chapter happens during the events of Chapter 40.

Now back to the story.)

Chloe's POV:
May 8th, 2093, 08:20:
42 miles West of Vanguard Base:

Inside the pelican, the rest of Alpha Team and myself were off to take out the CICWA force that appeared into this world. Thanks to the data Zero, Kagiso, Igor, and Orion pulled from their first FOB in Africa, we know a few more positions where they would be setting up bases, along with expected dates. Thankfully, this base was just right around the corner of Vanguard Base, and today was around the expected time it would appear.

From satellite images that we've seen so far, they're only just starting to build defenses of the FOB, so we should be able to catch them off guard. Also, because of how many times we've faced off against CICWA, and the tech left behind from the dead, the Alliance has been hard at work building new shielding tech to resist their type of weaponry, and it came out not too long ago. Brian managed to get the shipment just this morning and installed it into all of our armor before we left.

Not only that, but Brian also told us that if we were procure the weapons the CICWA use and take it to him directly, he can upgrade the effectiveness of our weapons. While this boon is great, I mainly see it as a way for the other four to have common ground against the Corrupters Armada's Cyborgs, along with the CICWA's soldiers. I then turned to my friends, looking at each of them and seeing what they were doing.

Rena, who had her helmet to the side like nearly everyone else, was examining her Handheld Machine Gun while also loading in a fresh magazine. For the past few days outside of missions, she's been training in close combat ever since more Cyborgs started showing up in the Corrupters Armada. Surprisingly, she's also been with Brian at his workshop, and I can only assume is because she wants to be able to take out Cyborgs without depending on Zero and myself.

Via, meanwhile, was laying back slightly somberly, her shotgun lay back beside her while she held onto her brother's grenade launcher attached to her forearm. It's only been over a week since her brother died, and while we are soldiers, I am slightly shocked that she was able to go through the grieving process of her brother's death as quickly as she did. Canine Anthro's are among the more emotional types of Anthro's, needless to say, I am proud of her, even when she'll act disobedient.

Ruby, on the other hand, was tapping away at her terminal on her wrist with her helmet hanging lazily at the tip of her tail. From what I understand, she's been developing a new biomedical treatment to combat diseases on the field with Dr. Lesley. She was about to go to a breakthrough when I informed her about the mission. While she may have been bummed a bit, she knew not to disobey an order and came to the pelican.

And finally, Mariana was on her seat, her helmet to the side like the first two, while laying her head back and closing her eyes. For the past few days, Mariana has been developing a new type of armor-piercing round alongside Brian. While I first assumed that it was for the Cyborgs armor, I was wrong, it was actually to face off against supernatural armor and shielding, similarly to Zero's bullets going through our Spartan shielding like wet paper.

While we all knew what to expect, Helena decided to play it safe and include Bravo Team in this operation as well. While Alpha Team would drop inside the base and take out as many hostiles as possible, Bravo Tean would ensure that any who attempt to run are either captured or killed. I then began wondering about how Zero was doing, since he had to leave the mission to face off against that creature we fought back at New Vegas.

Just as I thought about it, the lights in the pelican turned red just before the sound of laser fire started punching against the pelicans exterior plating, which held up against it thanks to the upgrades it had. Hearing this, the four immediately put on their helmets and grabbed prepped their weapons as I got up and walked over to the back. Once I did, I grabbed the handle on top as the pilot said,
