(Chapter 27)/The Hunter becomes the Hunted

Huntress's POV:
April 22nd, 2093, 19:30:
Near the Coast of Beaufort Sea, Canada:

Inside a transport truck, Sorceress, Swift, Max and I were being taken to the ocean to face off against a Mutant. I've been hearing about those things, mainly from the soldiers who survived being on the Frontline of this war. Of course, they all circle back to Zero and Chloe killing them without any trouble. Of course, that could just be personal speculation, still, if they can dispatch these things effortlessly, then I must do the same in hopes of defeating them in battle.

Also, I heard that Deinos was spotted by those Seeker's not too long ago, and they've severely damaged him. However, from what I understand, they haven't captured or killed him yet, so he could still very well be alive. Then again, they could just be hiding his death from us to avoid any potential likelihood of more disloyalty. Oh Deinos, I do hope you are still alive, and I also hope that you can survive long enough to where I won't be forced to kill you.

Looking at Max, he seemed contemplative, as though thinking of something within his mind. While my mind reading extends to organics, I'm very limited when it comes to ARC's like Max, making me wonder what is going on inside his head. I know that he's sad that Deinos left, and afraid of what's might happen to him should he be captured. Yet, as long as I'm around, I can tell that my presence calms him, even by a little bit.

Turning to Swift, she was, for once, serious and silent. I think that what happened with Deinos has started changing her, and I'm not sure if it's for better or worse. They were very close, but when I read her mind after it was announced he betrayed the Corrupters Armada, she was genuinely shocked. She had no previous knowledge about him planning on leaving, making me curious as to why he would only tell me.

Turning to Sorceress finally, she seemed smug, perhaps thinking that she could face whatever this mutant was alone. While I had doubts, killing one of these things with just my own abilities would put me one step ahead of Zero. However, knowing Sorceress, she will likely try to engage it alone and disobey my direct orders, only for me to pull her out of danger when it becomes to rough on her.

Leaning back, I closed my eyes and breathed a sigh of contentment, knowing that no matter what, that mutant will be destroyed, and our master won't see a need to get rid of us. As I closed my eyes, I began thinking of Zero, envisioning him in my head. He's one of the most dangerous individuals on this planet, regardless of what my master says about the human race. In fact, his and Chloe's powers are on the same page as mine, despite me having more focused training on them.

If that's the case, then that would make all three of us the most powerful mortal beings on Earth. There is still that thing my master serves, the Corrupter, who is leagues above myself. Still, knowing that Zero and Chloe have defeated it, then that means I am very unlikely to defeat it anytime soon, if at all. Feeling myself suddenly shift, I opened my eyes and noticed that the transport stopped, followed by banging from the front compartment, ending with a voice saying,

Male C.A. badger driver: "We're here."

After he said that, we all got up and immediately went to the back of the transport. After everyone else got off, I hopped out as well, landing on the snowy rocks. We're practically in the US, however, the C.A. took Alaska underneath the Alliance's noise, and they have sent forces on taking it back. While they do succeed on a nearby daily basis, it's only a few miles of gain, and we should be fine with hunting this mutant.

Speaking of which, I haven't been told what exactly it is, or what it resembles. Looking around for the commanding officer here, I found him ordering squads to certain places of our battle. Walking to him, I asked him,

Huntress: "Where is it?"

Male walrus C.A. officer (points to the sea): "Scanners said that it's somewhere in there. Also, I don't know what it is, so I'm not much use if that's what you want to know."
