When we get home I run upstairs to get changed. I open the door and quickly lock it behind me then go over to the closet. I stop dressing when I see myself in the mirror, noticing the red and brown spots on my neck.
I move closer and trace my hand over them, slightly pushing on the bruises to see how bad they are, they are light and not that bad.
I hear someone knock on the door and almost scratch myself in surprise. I throw on the top I have in my hands.
"Coming!" I yell, walking to the door.
I open the door to reveal Xavier standing waiting. He looks at me, it feels kind of weird to look at him considering he is the same height as me and a couple years younger.
"I heard that a student assaulted you today, are you okay?" He asks.
"I'm fine" I say, my hair mostly covered my neck but he could probably still tell.
"That's good" he says, but eyes the spots on my neck anyway, a frown set on his face.
"Yeah, I'm okay, the bruises aren't that bad" I say.
"Good, you're lucky" he says.
"I know, but I was saved so there's no need to worry" I say, smiling.
He smiles at me before telling me that he will be down the hall in his room if I need him. I quickly go downstairs, flashes of her face and flashes of Griffins attack playing in my mind. I need to get my mind off it, and what better way than to watch T.V?
I go downstairs and join, sadly, Griffin. But I don't dare to sit on the same couch as him. He's watching friends but he's on his phone not paying any attention. I sit there for about as little as 5 minutes before he starts to eye me. I see the want in his gaze and see that he is wondering whether he should do it or not, but before that happens, his phone dings and I get up and run off.
I walk around, remembering that I didn't really know what was where this morning when thinking about making lunch for myself. I go into the kitchen, which is luckily, vampire free. Opening the cupboards and drawers, I learn where all the cutlery and plates, cups, etc go. I open the pantry to find snacks, such as Doritos and unopened tim tams. I do find the bread and other things. Of course jam and butter are in the fridge, along with an opened pack of tim tams that I really want to steal from.
I close the fridge before I can get my hands on them and wonder if that's kind of how it feels for the people around me. Resisting.
Of course the situation would be different when asking for tim tams compared to drinking someone's blood. You can't just keep repeating please until you get it.
I remind myself one last time where everything is to make a sandwich tomorrow before leaving.
Waltzing out into the other lounge, I find Damien sitting on the couch doing some sort of work.
These boys do like to keep their distance from each other whenever possible. Are they even friends?
He noticed me but ignores me as I walk past. Just at the last minute does he say something.
"Don't trust everyone you meet, those girls were just the tip of the iceberg, Cardens not going to be there to save you all the time" he says and I frown.
"You knew about with Griffin..."
"Yes, the whole house knows and he has been told to keep his distance, but remember, we can snap, and when we do, you are completely and utterly screwed" he tells me, giving me an authoritative stare.
"I understand" I say, going into the gym.
I set up the table tennis table to be able to play by myself, and make sure the door is closed so to not bother Damien.
