Driving along the practically abandoned road, with the trees flashing by and Anne in the backseat with me, playing with her phone on a game called Kitty Collector, I thought about how beautiful the scenery was, it was so green and reminded me of a forest. Sadly I couldn't fully appreciate the scenery as I wondered and worried about what my godparents would be like. They had to be nice people, my mother and father were everything if not nice, so I couldnt imagine them choosing someone terrible.
As my best friend was driven away I waved and then turned to the house I had been sent to, it was an old looking mansion, with dark colours, it's own driveway and space, surrounded by trees and seemingly far from any other living being. But beautiful nonetheless, despite my wondering of how long it would take to get to school. I walk up to the door and steady my bag and then knock three times, and wait. Wait a bit more, and more, and knock again.
And wait.
I think about knocking again and starting to call out "Penny" but don't.
I decide that I'm getting cold and impatient and just turn the knob to see if the door is open, which, luckily for me, it is. I walk in and put my bag next to the door before walking in the grand and open room, I see the stairs that split off into left and right in front of me, and doors either side of me, a small living area to the right of the stairs, and another to the left.
"Hello?" I call out with no answer.
I walk over to the stairs and peer up both ways, it's just dark.
"What are you doing here?" Someone with a deep voice startles me and I turn around to face a guy who is, brunette, tall and muscular, probably about my age or older, with dazzling hazel but very green eyes, though they look rather cold and standoffish, and angry.
"Um, this was the address I was given, I'm sorry, here" I hand the guy the piece of paper with the address on it.
Is he my god brother or something?
He barely looks at it before looking back at me "that doesn't answer my question"
"Um, my mother passed away and now I'm supposed to live with my godparents, this was the address I was given" I explain.
"Well, you shouldnt be here" he says before another voice interrupts.
"Carden, did you actually bring one home? Is it a present for us?" I hear and turn to see another boy coming downstairs with lighter hair, almost blonde, and its longer.
When he reaches us he grabs my shoulder and leans into me, and I'm not joking, smells me.
"She smells nice" he says and I step away from him.
"I noticed" the previous boy, who must be Carden, responds and I look at them, confused.
"She probably tastes better" the boy says, licking his lips.
I cringe and Carden glares at the guy and sudenly another, more high pitched voice, talks.
"Shes really pretty" I look to see a shorter boy, probably my height, next to me and wonder where these people keep coming from.
He takes my hand and kisess it, then licks lightly and I pull my hand away.
"She does taste nice" the younger boy says.
I step away from the both of them and into Carden and he moves me aside as another voice enters this weird conversation that seems to be about me and yet I don't feel like I'm involved in it.
"Guys, stop freaking her out, I dont think she knows about us" I watch as another boy who looks my age but less muscular than the other two, and shorter but still taller than me, comes down the stairs.
