"So, I'm going to take you to a different shop today" Penny tells me as we get into the car she called to pick us up.

"Why?" I ask.

"Because its more sophisticated, it specialises in formal wear" she says.

"I guess that's a good business to be in up here" I say.

She chuckles "yeah"

I've called Selene to verify that it's okay to use the duplicate card she gave me a couple weeks ago to buy this dress today and she squealed with an excited yes. I've never met someone so happy to spend their money. Penny's hair has two sides pulled back in braids and her fringe is slightly in her eyes when I speak to her. I'm really thinking about cutting my own, especially when I see Penny's looking this good.

"So how's things with Carden?" She asks.

"Kind of normal" I lie, well I don't lie, but realised I had after the words came out of my mouth. I had finally managed to get yesterdays events out of my head, but now they rushed back at an insane force, practically knocking me out of my seat.

I try to leave it as 'normal' but Penny leans in, a sharp and confident look set in her eyes that reaches her lips in a smirk and sends shivers down my spine.

"Really?" She asks, it feels almost like a rhetorical question, like she already knows the answer "because I see different"

"Everything is fine" I say.

"See that's not 'normal', that's 'fine', that's 'acceptable', not 'normal'" she says.

"Why do you have to do that?" I ask, shying away.

"Do what? Her smirk falls and she raises a brow.

"Intimidate me" I say and she laughs in response, pulling back.

"Oh, we're here"

We both get out of the car and stand just outside a store with colourful gowns in one window and black and white themed ones in the other.

"Here's the masquerade rules" Penny says and I chuckle.

She hands me a card with a few things written on it and smiles at me.

"As promised I'll wait outside" she says.

"Okay, thanks" I smile and step inside of the store, the door cues a bell sound as I open it and the woman at the far end of the store looks up at me.

"Hello" she says as she walks over "how are you today?"

"I'm good thanks" I smile.

"Is there anything you'd like me to help you find?" She inquires and I shake my head.

"I'm just looking for the moment thanks" I say.

She nods and tells me to call if I need some help and moves back over to her desk.

I step toward the gowns and glance down at the postcard sized card.

1. You must wear a mask

2. The colour scheme is out of black, white, reds, blues, purples and greens, they cannot be bright. They must be deep colours such as emerald or blood red.

3. Do not choose anything too frilly or with much largeness to it with tool. In short, no cupcake poofiness.

4. Respect these rules or Selene will come after you.

I chuckle and cover my mouth, hoping that the sales assistant didn't hear me.

I wonder how the remaining public saw this? Did she always make these cards like this? Its uplifting to think that the community would know each other well enough that the name 'Selene' can be put there without a doubt that everyone knows her or of her.
