The chips arrive, we already got our drinks before, about five minutes ago, and they start munching into them. They look scrumptious, the salt and sauce over them almost makes them look like they belong in a mouth watering ad.
Zoe pushes the bucket towards me, offering me one.
"Really?" I ask, my hand already wanting to reach out and grab one.
She nods at me as she chews her own chip and I pinch a couple "thank you"
"It's fine" Sam says "our parents are rather generous with allowance anyway"
"Are you two rich or something?" I ask.
"You could put it that way" she continues "but in this town most people are pretty above average in their finances, so really, compared to everyone else, we aren't 'rich'"
She makes quotation marks with her fingers before popping another chip in her mouth.
"You should see our wardrobes" Zoe says, her eyes going wide as she mentions it.
"So, do you guys live at home or in a dorm?" I ask them, talking about their parents has me a bit confused.
"In dorms, but we visit our parents often, they just prefer it when we are out of the house sometimes" Sam explains.
"They like to have date nights without having to come home to two teenage daughters" Zoe says.
Before I can ask anything, Sam chips in.
"Or having co-workers over without us there"
"Do you two live together or something? Are you sisters?" I ask.
I had a feeling that the two were very close to one another but I didn't think they were sisters.
"Yeah, we're twins" Zoe smiles.
"Just not identical" Sam says.
"Though we do like to imagine if we had been, we could play so many tricks on people" Zoe says.
"That's cool, you guys seemed very close, but I didn't think you were sisters" I say, smiling "I've never had any siblings"
"Really?" Zoe says.
"It sucks" Sam jokes.
"I have a somewhat god brother now but it's complicated with him" I say.
"Really? Is he cute?" Zoe asks.
"Uh, yeah I guess" I say awkwardly.
"What's complicated? Do you like him or something?" Sam asks.
"Uh, no but my god family likes the idea of it" I admit.
It feels good to talk about how weird it is but also I feel a wave of anxiety at the thought of them thinking I'm weird or that they'll figure out who it is.
"That's a bit weird, but he's cute right? So what's the problem?" Zoe says.
I look at her with narrowed brows, confused.
"I'm joking, I'm not that shallow" she laughs and brushes it off "but seriously, is it awkward?"
"When you're trying to consider this really attractive guy as a brother when you never grew up together, and he has no sense of personal space" I explain "yeah, that's pretty awkward"
"Give him my number, I'll take him" she smiles sweetly, tilting her head and I lean in a little, not sure what I've just heard.
"Huh?" I ask.
