P.S. I'm currently writing a book with my friend Captsparkleyrainbow which I'm loving. It's gay/LGBT (Urgh god I'm not going to tag my story with that tho, makes me think of SJW's), and centres around four characters that are interconnected by school and friendship. So yeah please go ahead and read that when we release it. I'm sure I'll make a big deal about it when we do.
...
"Lets go Carden, one more before we eat, otherwise we won't be able to go on it" I say.
"Why?" He asks.
I turn to him with a grave face "because we'd throw up"
Then I continue on my merry way to the Hammer. Two cages that go upside down. There's a build-up of it before it goes completely full circle and comes back down that way and it switches directions.
"This one?" Carden asks.
"Yeah!" I smile brightly at him.
He looks me up and down and shrugs an okay. We line up and wait until we can join the ride. I bubble with excitement and Carden smiles.
"It's good that you're happy" he says.
"Huh?" I ask.
"You are smiling, which is good" he says.
"Yeah" I say.
They open the gate and allow us in. I go to almost the very end of the cage and hop in. They make sure we are secure and then I wait in anticipation for it to start.
"I'm so excited!" I squeal.
He chuckles and grabs my hand "I can make you more excited"
I smile but chuckle "not right now Carden, it's about to start!"
He laughs and drops my hand and holds onto the bar as it begins to move. I laugh excitedly as it begins to get the momentum and rocks upside down. But glancing over at Carden and you think you'd seen a ghost. All the colour was drained from his face and I chuckled to myself but still gave sympathy.
"Carden are you alright?" I yell.
His head jerks and he looks at me "yeah fine"
I shift my hand onto his and try to rub circles reassuringly. But I can't stop myself from having fun with this ride.
When it stops and we are allowed off I smile sympathetically at Carden.
"Sorry" I say.
"For what? You had fun" he says.
"But you got scared" I say.
"I wasn't scared" he says as we continue walking to the food court.
"Carden" I say "your face was drained of all colour"
" I just didn't like it" he says.
"Okay" I say "do you still want to eat?"
"Yeah I'm hungry" he says.
"Okay" I say with a smile again.
He sighs and keeps walking. I once again glance down at his hand and slowly reach my hand closer, when my fingers make contact he flinches in surprise and looks at me. A blush makes its way to my cheeks and I stutter "uh"
He looks at my hand that I've pulled away and grabs it, engulfing it in his own.
"You could've just asked" he says, looking away at a ride.
"Sorry" I say embarrassingly.
God. Are my palms sweaty? Now I'm more nervous. We strolled along and we finally bumped into a couple people from school. Two guys were walking the other way. They glanced at the both of us and our hands. One of them grimaced and I let my eyes drop to the floor self consciously. We continue walking past them and into the food court, finding a seat and sitting down. I sigh in exhaustion and yawn.
"What do you want to eat?" He asks.
"I don't know" I say.
"Thanks for the input" he says as he scans the multiple food stands.
"I'll have hot chips that's it" I say.
"Okay, then that's what I'll get" he says "what drink do you want?"
"Um" I think "water"
"Okay" he says and raises from the table "you stay here and keep the seat" he says.
"Okay" I say and lay my arm out on the table, resting my head on that.
He chuckles and walks off to get food.
I wonder if we'll go on the Ferris wheel. I wonder if we'll kiss at the top. I doubt he'll even think about that. I'm gonna have to initiate it if I want it to happen. As I lie my head on the table I watch the two guys from earlier come back around and stare at me from across the grass. They have a conversation and I continue just staring back at them. One of them folds his arms and smirks at me. I fold my fingers together and pop one out in response. They both look in surprise and I just continue to flip them off as Carden trods back over with the food. I hear him hum and look up at him.
"Why're you doing that?" He asks.
"Look" I say, nodding in their general direction.
He glances and I glance over and they both look away.
He chuckles and sits down opposite me and takes a swig of his black can.
"The warmer the better" he mutters and I shiver.
"Gross" I say "the one drink in a can that is better at room temperature"
"Even better when it's warm" he says "more realistic"
"Great" I say.
"Here's your water Kitten" he says, pushing my water across the table to me.
"Thanks" I say, taking a mouthful of water, which is cool and refreshing. It's nice on such a hot day. Actually, I'm curious. "What is it like when it's cold?"
"Wrong, just horrible, dead" he says, making a twisted face.
I laugh and take another gulp "interesting"
"You okay with sauce?" Carden asks as he grabs the tomato sauce packet with his fingers.
"Yeah, go ahead" I say.
He squeezes it and it pops open, letting the crimson contents spill out into the chips. Turn he rips open a packet of salt and sprinkles it on. I immediately take a chip and pop it into my mouth. Then I flinch as my tongue makes contact and put my hand on my mouth.
"H-hot" I say, opening my mouth and trying to cool it.
"Yeah, maybe I should've warned you" he smirks and I glare at his facetious attitude.
I don't respond, just try to finish the chip. He blows on a chip and eats it, smiling smugly at me as I finally am able to finish my first one.
"So how's my nickname progressing?" He asks.
"It's not" I say blantantly as I take a gulp of water.
"I'll never respond to cupcake" he says.
"Too bad" I smile.
"I went to call you princess before" he says.
I sigh "Kitten works for now"
"Maybe you'll eventually get to baby" he smirks.
"I'm good thanks" I say.
"Do you want to go on the Ferris wheel after this?" He asks.
I feel my face light up in excitement "yes!"
He smiles at me and nods "okay"
"Okay" I say, averting my eyes. I got way too excited about that.
"I didn't think you'd like roller coasters as much as you have" he says, eating more chips.
"Well I do" I say.
"You like them more than I do" he says.
"I like everything more than you do" I say "I like you more than you do"
"You don't like you more than I do, there's at least that" he replied.
"That's true" I say, eating a very salty and drenched in sauce amazing chip.
He smiles and we make eye contact, making me smile as well.
"You smile a lot more now" I say.
"Do I?" He asks.
"Mhm" I hum, a chip stopping me from speaking.
"Maybe I have more to be happy about" he says.
"When you first smiled at me I was really shocked" I tell him "I didn't expect you to smile"
He shrugs and takes the last chip, swinging down the last gulp of his drink and throwing both in the rubbish.
"Lets go" he says, reaching out his hand for me to take.
"Okay" I smile, taking it and stepping into line with him.
Every step that we get closer to the Ferris wheel my heart beats faster. I feel my breathing get harder and my palm sweating and that only makes me more embarrassed.
"Sorry if my palm is sweaty" I say, awkwardly smiling at him and then immediately looking away.
"It actually is, are you okay?" He asks.
"How do you do that?" I ask, getting flustered.
"What?" He asks, curiosity lacing his tone.
"Normal people would be grossed out by the sweat, meanwhile you ask if I'm okay" I chuckle "am I that much to worry over?"
"For me you are" he says "I'm not saying you can't take care of yourself, but I don't know how strong your body is, so I'm trying to be observant" he covers his mouth and looks away from me "I don't want to be a shitty boyfriend who doesn't notice when you're sick"
"Uh" I stutter "th-thanks" I wiggle my fingers a little and laugh "now you're making my hand sweat more!"
"That's probably my sweat" he says "you aren't the only one who sweats you know?"
"Yeah but my sweat is be-"
"Yeah, exactly" he cuts me off, making me smirk.
"Are you n-n-nervous Carden?" I joke.
"Can we drop the gender roles?" He asks "just cause I'm a guy doesn't mean I don't get nervous"
"No. I'm saying this because you're you" I say "Carden is getting nervous"
"We get it" he says.
"Whatcha nervous for?" I raise a brow.
"Why're you?" He asks.
"Uh-" I pause, blush and close my mouth in embarrassment.
"Exactly" he says with a smirk.
We reach the very large Ferris wheel and join the barely existing line. I wonder why they're called Ferris wheels? I wonder if Carden is afraid of heights? Maybe that's why he is nervous, not because of me. I don't like Ferris wheels much myself. They creak a lot. I feel imminent doom in them. How will I manage to move? I'll already be nervous from the ride, how can I do something like that? Why did I give myself this mission? If it were anyone else who told me to do it- no, I would be just as conscious and nervous. I'd just have someone else to blame.
"I wonder if there's any legends about this Ferris wheel" I spout the least embarrassing of my thoughts.
"What?" Carden asks.
"Well in books I've read, particularly manga, when two people go on the Ferris wheel there tends to be a legend of like-" don't finish that sentence Eva.
"Of what?" He asks.
"Nothing" I say.
"No you have to tell me now" he says, rubbing his thumb along my palm and tickling me.
I sigh and glare at him in defeat "something like, if they kiss at the top they'll be together forever or they'll become a couple or good luck or something"
He chuckles, covering his mouth to laugh, as I blush and I swat his arm "don't laugh!"
"But it's so cheesy. I mean, we'll be together forever, says a sixteen year old teen who has yet to begin life and completely develop, it's so much teen-drama like" he smiles, taking his hand down slightly and causing me to go star struck for a moment, his laughing face is something to live for.
"You should really be a model" I say.
He chuckles again "I've been told"
"Is that your serious view on things?" I ask "such a Debbie downer"
"Why? I think realistically" he defends himself.
"Yeah so do I but you can at least cherish a relationship instead of passing it off as 'we'll break up eventually anyway' you know?" I say "otherwise what's the point in us going out?"
I look at him expectantly and he smiles, leaning down to meet my eye level and getting uncomfortably close.
"Because" he smirks "we will be together forever Kitten"
I blush but also try to fight back a laugh, the laugh wins and I can't help it bursting out like water from a hose "I really can't handle 'kitten' it's so funny!"
He smiles at me and stands back up "princess definitely feels more correct"
"I know" I smile.
"I can make you forget that it ever represented something bad" he says.
"I can try" I say "kitten is just too much, I mean you talked about cheesy, then called me kitten, who are you?"
"Your future husband" he says.
"Ah" I say "Greyson said that a lot"
"Well he's a liar, I'm the only one" he jokes.
I purse my lips "he hasn't done it recently"
"That's because now he's apparently your brother" he says.
"Right" I say.
"I wonder what would happen if we had kids?" Carden asks as the operator begins opening carriages and letting people in.
I blush profusely "stop talking about stuff like that!"
"Oh? Where did your mind go?" He smirks "I was just thinking about human vampire kids"
"Ah" I say "oh yeah, I wonder"
"Well no need to wonder right now" he says, pulling me with him into the carriage "we can worry about that later"
I chuckle "is this a proposal?"
"I have zero dollars, and I'm 18" he says.
I laugh and sit carefully down. The carriage starts moving and making creaking sounds. I grimace at the shiver that runs down my spine. Just be calm Eva. Get to the top and the view will be great. Maybe you'll finally be able to figure out what the hell this town looks like.
"With the way this town works I'm surprised there haven't already been arrangements made" he says.
"Huh?" I ask, having completely zoned out.
"Wedding?" He tells me.
"Right" I say.
"You okay?" He clarifies, resting his elbows on his knees.
"Yeah" I assure him.
"Okay" he says.
"I wonder how things are with your fiancé?" I ask.
"Ex-fiancé" he reminds me.
"Right" I say "still, I wonder how her family took it"
"Fine probably, seems like they had their own rebellion going on" he says "I barely ever met her but I was supposed to marry her and move there to learn"
"Seems like your dad had quite the plan" I say.
"Yeah" he sighs "too bad"
"I still want to know what that other town is like, maybe it's not so... forest-y"
"Hah, yeah maybe" he smiles.
"I hate Ferris wheels sometimes" I say as I hear another creak.
"Why?" He asks.
"Because they sound like they're gonna break" I say.
"You aren't wrong" he says "but just talk about other things and you'll be fine" he says as we begin to approach the top.
I look outside and frown as I stare at the vast plane of treetops.
"This town is so stupid" I say.
"I see, so this Ferris wheel is only useful for scaring you?" He asks, joking. He sits up straight, resting his weight on his hand beside him on the seat.
"No" I say, looking at him determinedly.
Calm. Down. Heart.
"What?" He furrows his brows at me and I sigh, breathing out a shaky breath.
"Um" I say, inching closer to him on the seat. I take I deep breath "it's good for more than that" I say.
I cover his hand with mine "can I kiss you?" I come closer to him and glance at his lips momentarily.
He chuckles, but even so his cheeks tint red "why're you asking?"
"Because this is new for me" I say, my cheeks so red I feel like I've got heat stroke as I lean closer.
"Just do it" he says.
I connect our lips and almost fall forward, losing my balance a little. Instead I hurriedly put my hand on his knee to try to keep myself up. He smiles against my lips as we part and pushes hair back behind my ear.
"Princess" he says, then smirks "thanks"
"Uh" my moth pops open I shock "what? That's so mean! Don't just brush it off, that was really hard for me to do!"
"Okay" he smiles and places his hand over my one on his knee, looking down at it and then up at me "princess..." he says dramatically "I love you"
"Aw just stop if you won't be serious" I say, taking my hand out from beneath his and looking outside.
"Okay okay okay" he laughs, sneaking his head over my shoulder and pushing my hair out of the way to kiss my cheek "love you"
I sigh and look at him, my words stuck in my throat. I put so much to that word I feel like I shouldn't use it "love you too"
"Why the sigh?" He asks.
"It's such a big word" I say.
"It's four letters" he says.
"But it holds so much meaning, it feels wrong for me to use it when I'm only seventeen"
"The realist in you" he says "ignore it"
"Actions speak louder than words right?" I say.
"Yeah" he says.
I connect our lips again
